The Law on Architecture was passed by the 14th National Assembly at the 7th Session on June 13, 2019. On July 19, 2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1246/QD-TTg approving the Orientation for the development of Vietnamese architecture to 2030, with a vision to 2050, with the goal of building and developing modern, sustainable, and unique Vietnamese architecture, promptly meeting the requirements of cultural development to become a spiritual foundation in the cause of innovation, industrialization, and modernization of the country, associated with firmly protecting the Fatherland.
Immediately afterwards, in Decision No. 1120/QD-BXD dated October 8, 2021, the Ministry of Construction issued a Plan to implement the Orientation for the Development of Vietnamese Architecture to 2030, with a vision to 2050, assigning tasks to specialized units to develop a Project to promote socialization, mobilize international resources to implement the plan, improve design quality, and ensure sustainable development .
Architecture EXPO 2023 is organized to carry out the tasks of the Project, with the goal of promoting the image and exhibition of Vietnamese architecture.
Architecture EXPO 2023 has the theme "Architecture - Creating sustainable spaces for the community" is the only specialized exhibition in Vietnam to introduce the country's architectural achievements in recent times. The event will also be an in-depth scientific forum on Vietnamese and world architecture (Architecture Forum), bringing together domestic and international units, organizations, businesses, managers, leading experts in the fields of architecture - planning and other related fields.
In addition, the action program to implement Resolution 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo on planning, construction, management and sustainable development of Vietnamese urban areas to 2030, with a vision to 2045 was also discussed; Orientation for the development of modern Vietnamese architecture imbued with national identity; preservation, inheritance and promotion of traditional architectural values, selective absorption of the quintessence of world architecture, creating the characteristics of Vietnamese architecture; promoting Vietnamese architecture to the world.
Architecture EXPO 2023 is an important event that will attract the attention of managers, architects, engineers, businesses, research institutes, universities... in the field of architecture and planning to share domestic and international experiences in architectural design, career development, and state management in the field of Industry.
The activities of EXPO Architecture also aim to enhance and innovate communication and education work to raise public awareness of the practical significance and importance of: Orientation and goals for developing modern, sustainable Vietnamese architecture rich in national cultural identity; Effectively promoting the role of the community in participating in the process of developing modern Vietnamese architecture rich in national cultural identity, contributing to the creation and completion of a comfortable and sustainable residential environment. Building the image of Vietnamese architecture integrated with regional and world architecture.
Within the framework of the event, there will be a series of activities: Visiting typical projects in Kien Giang applying green architecture, using energy saving, using environmentally friendly materials; 1 plenary opening session; 2 thematic seminars and 1 parallel architectural exhibition.
The plenary opening session and discussion with the theme “Architecture - creating sustainable space for the community” will be attended by leaders of the Party, Government, Ministry of Construction, relevant ministries and localities, international organizations, associations and typical enterprises in the fields of architecture, planning and construction.
At this meeting, domestic and foreign experts will participate in discussions and contribute ideas to the policy framework to achieve sustainable architectural development goals, meet climate change requirements, and prevent epidemics and natural disasters.
At the same time, propose and recommend a model to promote socialization to mobilize resources for the development of Vietnamese architecture, improve design quality, ensure sustainable development; create a mechanism to promote the application of science and technology, and new models of green buildings in Vietnam.
Workshop 1 has the theme “Developing sustainable architecture - adapting to climate change”; Workshop 2 has the theme “The role of materials and technology in creating living space”. The workshops focus on introducing and exchanging domestic and international experiences in exploitation, planning and architectural management, construction management and rural urban development; modern architectural solutions successfully applied by advanced countries for housing and heritage conservation, as well as solutions to withstand the impacts of natural disasters and climate change to have a sustainable development planning orientation.
The architectural exhibition includes 2 pavilions and 20 booths in the form of panels, models, product displays... introducing scientific and technological achievements with practical applications and art directly related to the field of architecture; architectural design of houses, public works, heritage conservation and valuable architectural works; urban and rural planning, urban design, landscape design and modern construction technology.
