At the program, the Hai Duong City Veterans Association presented 15 gifts, each worth 1 million VND in cash and gifts to 15 Dien Bien soldiers from Hai Duong province.
Eight out of 15 Dien Bien soldiers attended the meeting. The remaining veterans were in poor health so family representatives attended.
This is a gift to show gratitude to the veterans and soldiers who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, driving out the French colonialists, creating a resounding victory that shook the world.
Hai Duong currently has 15 veterans who were Dien Bien soldiers who stayed in Dien Bien province after completing the campaign. Of these, 11 veterans live in Dien Bien Phu city, the rest in Muong Cha, Muong Ang and Dien Bien districts. The veterans are from Tu Ky, Ninh Giang, Gia Loc, Cam Giang, Kim Thanh districts and Hai Duong city.
Two out of 15 veterans are disabled. There is one female veteran, comrade Pham Thi My (born in 1936), from Le Loi commune (Gia Loc), currently living in Muong Ang town (Muong Ang district).
The oldest person is comrade Nguyen Van Tuyen (born in 1926), from Ha Ky commune (Tu Ky), currently living in Muong Thanh ward (Dien Bien Phu city).
At the meeting, the Veterans Associations of the two provinces briefly informed about the socio-economic development situation of each province; exchanged experiences in association activities, caring for the lives of veterans, supporting veterans in economic development, and poverty reduction.
