The Nguyen Dynasty considered Hai Van Pass and Hai Van Mountain as the key position of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan - Hue in terms of military and transportation, and the southern gateway of this land.

Hai Van Quan was built in the 7th year of Minh Mang (1826), located on the top of Hai Van pass, west of Hai Van mountain, at the intersection of Hai Van Son (east) and Ba Son (west), at an altitude of 496m above sea level.

Hai Van Pass belongs to the Bach Ma - Hai Van mountain range, located in Lang Co town, Phu Loc district (Thua Thien Hue) and Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district (Da Nang city).

From Hai Van Pass, looking south, you can see Da Nang with Tien Sa port - Son Tra peninsula, long white sand beaches hugging the coast. Looking north is the picturesque Lang Co bay with winding mountain passes.

In 2017, Hai Van Quan was ranked as a national monument. This August, Hai Van Quan opened to the public after nearly 3 years of restoration.
From above, at dawn or dusk, even when night falls, Hai Van mountain and Hai Van Quan all have magical moments...
