At noon on January 22, passengers arriving at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) were surprised to see an unherded buffalo wandering onto the second floor of the domestic passenger terminal (T1 terminal).

The buffalo apparently "broke into" the airport from the car ramp (the ramp connecting Vo Nguyen Giap Street with the departure terminal); wandered up to the 2nd floor and headed towards the terminal door.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Dao Tuan, a witness at the airport, said the incident happened at 11:35 on January 22. At that time, it was raining lightly, and there was little traffic on the road leading to the second floor.

Mr. Tuan informed a security officer at the airport about the buffalo's appearance.

Airport representatives confirmed that security personnel were deployed to herd the buffalo out of the airport.

According to the design, Noi Bai airport has barriers on all sides to prevent foreign animals from entering. However, the road leading from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Terminal T1 has no barriers, only signs prohibiting motorbikes.

The presence of animals around Noi Bai airport is not difficult to understand because nearby are cultivated land and Soc Son forest. Previously, security staff had seen monkeys and dogs near the airport fence.

With this rare incident, Noi Bai airport has directed the functional unit to send a recommendation document to the local border communes to continue to propagate and remind people about livestock management, ensuring traffic safety, aviation safety and the image of the gateway airport of the capital.

Noi Bai Airport is located adjacent to 5 agricultural production communes. Therefore, the work of preventing livestock and wild animals from entering is always thoroughly implemented, and monitoring is increased to detect and repel them promptly.

Every year, the airport also coordinates with the Northern Airport Authority to organize many propaganda campaigns on aviation safety culture for communes bordering the airport, and at the same time sends documents advising people not to fly kites, balloons, flycams, burn straw, manage livestock... to ensure flight safety.
