(CLO) On the afternoon of November 2, at the headquarters of Vietnam Television (VTV), the Ceremony to announce and present the Prime Minister's Decision on appointing Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, to the position of General Director of Vietnam Television took place.


Pursuant to Decision No. 1311/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister decided to transfer and appoint Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, to hold the position of General Director of Vietnam Television. The term of appointment is 5 years. The decision takes effect from November 1, 2024.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam and affirmed that his appointment as General Director of Vietnam Television was appropriate in the current context. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam has been with Vietnam Television for 18 years and has been transferred to many positions, has experience and is mature enough.

The Prime Minister raised the issue of whether VTV is strong or not, it depends on building a team of innovation, creativity, who knows how to work hard, not follow the old ways, follow habits, work resolutely... Determination must be high, action must be big, assign people and tasks clearly, reward and encourage promptly. Emphasizing that people are the center, the subject, the goal, the driving force for development, the Prime Minister suggested that VTV pay attention to the human factor in development.

In addition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commented that VTV has built its infrastructure from its own internal resources, and expressed his hope for a television tower as a symbolic project.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam expressed his honor and emotion when Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh handed him the decision to appoint him as General Director of VTV; affirming that this is a great honor but also a noble responsibility entrusted by the Party and State leaders and the collective of VTV journalists.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam believes that in the new era, the era of national growth, the collective of Vietnamese television workers also needs more vitality and new creative inspiration along with a strong political will to both protect and spread the nation's good cultural and ideological values ​​in both real and digital space, and to reflect and contribute to leading the changes and transformations of the political system, of businesses and more than 100 million Vietnamese people in the face of new opportunities, fortunes and challenges.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam promised the Prime Minister that in his new position, he will be the nucleus of solidarity to work with the Standing Committee, the Party Committee of the Station and the units in VTV to lead and perform professional work well, continuing to make VTV a key multimedia media agency, with great influence and positive orientation to society.
