(Fatherland) - On the evening of December 17, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations in coordination with the Literature and Arts Times organized the Award Ceremony of the Contest "Learning about 80 years of glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army" with the theme "Forever the military march echoes".
The contest aims to widely propagate throughout society, especially artists and the young generation, about the history of formation, development, glorious traditions, and glorious feats of the Vietnam People's Army for the revolutionary cause of the nation under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh through the history of the process of building and defending the Fatherland.

The contest also aims to arouse patriotism, civic responsibility, pride and aspiration to create literature and art on the theme of the Armed Forces - Revolutionary War and the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers; encourage artists to continue to work creatively and contribute to the development of the country's literature and art. At the same time, it contributes to promoting civic responsibility in protecting and building the country and the People's Army by honoring the contributions of the military.
According to Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations Do Hong Quan, although it took place in a short time, thanks to the efforts of the Organizing Committee in combination with communication on mass media and directly promoting propaganda and mobilization work, after 40 days, the contest ended with unexpectedly good results.
More than 4,000 people from groups and individuals across the country have submitted entries. The participants are quite diverse, including artists, soldiers, police, coast guard, officials, civil servants, veterans, retired officials, teachers, ethnic minorities, students, businessmen, etc. In particular, there are also veteran generals and heroes of the armed forces participating. In addition, the contest also accepts entries from Russian master's students at the Institute of Asian-African Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russian students studying Vietnamese and living and working in Hanoi, and Vietnamese students studying abroad.
The Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to author Dang Thi Huyen - Member of the Da Nang City Writers Association.
The total number of articles/works submitted to the contest is 4008. Specifically, the number of entries sent by post is 339; the number of entries sent by email is 185; the number of collective entries is 3484.
Through the selection and marking process, the Board of Judges said that many entries were carefully prepared, of good quality, with a tight structure, and a close, lively, creative and engaging way of expression. Many entries demonstrated the meticulousness in researching, studying and collecting documents, images, and literary and artistic creations about the background of the birth, the process of building and maturing, and the glorious traditions of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, the achievements of Literature and Art on the subject of the Armed Forces and revolutionary war, and the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
At the Award Ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize; 3 Second Prizes; 5 Third Prizes; 10 Encouragement Prizes along with the following prizes: Oldest Contestant; Youngest Contestant with the Most Impressive Contestant; Teacher with the Most Impressive Contestant; Creative Contestant; Foreigner with the Most Impressive Contestant; Hero of the Armed Forces cheering the Contest; Special Contribution; Inspirational Person.
Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations Tran Thi Thu Dong and Editor-in-Chief of the Culture and Arts Times Hoang Du presented the Second Prize to the authors.
The Organizing Committee also honored the collectives with the following awards: Best Contest Collective; First Primary School to launch and have the most entries; Secondary School with the most impressive form of participation in the contest; Primary School with the most cadres and teachers participating in the contest; Armed Forces Unit with the most contestants; Unit with the most senior military and police officers participating in the contest; Collective with the most mid-level and senior retired cadres participating in the contest; Unit with the most female writers participating in the contest; Unit with the most poets participating in the contest./.
