The contest is an important task assigned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the Department of Cinema, to honor the historical values, ideology and revolutionary spirit of the Party through a century of building, maturing, directing and leading the Vietnamese revolution, the Vietnamese people's loyalty, steadfastness, innovation and creativity in fighting to protect national independence and build the country.
This is a practical form to implement Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo on continuing to build and develop culture and arts in the new period, Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development and Conclusion No. 76/KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW.

Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong affirmed that the contest with this special theme and meaning is not only an opportunity to look back on the glorious historical journey of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution, but also an opportunity for authors to express their patriotism and national pride through dedicated film scripts.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the most deserving awards will be given to the highest quality feature and documentary film scripts; outstanding scriptwriters will be honored.
“The contest is an opportunity for screenwriters to recreate important historical periods and the great contributions of the Party to the cause of national liberation and nation building.
Through scripts and films created from high-quality scripts, patriotism, communist ideals and the will to fight are strongly conveyed to the audience, especially the young generation. This is how art forms, including cinema, contribute to strengthening political ideals and evoking national pride,” Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong affirmed.

The competition also creates a professional creative environment for screenwriters, encouraging creativity and innovation in conveying historical and revolutionary stories. This helps Vietnamese cinema to continuously develop, diversify genres and improve the quality of educational works of art.
Scripts with ideological content and historical themes of the Party not only honor past values but also aim to build and foster revolutionary ideology and ethics for present and future generations, contributing to raising people's awareness of the role of our Party in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Emphasizing that scripts are the foundation for many works of art, according to the Deputy Minister, the honored works are evidence of valuable contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, as President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "Culture lights the way for the nation to go".
The Deputy Minister suggested that the Department of Cinema continue to be proactive and positive in orienting and promoting more so that script contests on the themes of Party history, revolution, national heroes, President Ho Chi Minh and the country's renovation attract more authors, have more good and excellent scripts, and create a source of high-quality and attractive scripts for film production.

Director of the Department of Cinema Vi Kien Thanh, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the 2023-2024 Feature Film and Documentary Scriptwriting Contest, aiming to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2030), has attracted the participation of many professional and amateur screenwriters nationwide.
There are authors who participate in 2 scripts in one category and there are scripts in both documentary and feature film categories. Young authors are 25-35 years old, the oldest author is over 80 years old. There are also authors who are Vietnamese living, studying and working abroad. That shows the deep affection of the authors for the glorious Party and the great Uncle Ho.
“The requirement of the contest is that the script must be a new creation, not having won awards in other contests, not having registered and participated in the selection of scripts for film production using the state budget. The Organizing Committee highly appreciates the working spirit and new script writing of the authors, demonstrating the interest and attraction of the contest on this meaningful topic…”, Mr. Vi Kien Thanh emphasized.
The scripts have topics and content about the Communist Party of Vietnam; about the cause of building and defending the Fatherland under the leadership of the Party; the cause of building Vietnam into a "rich people, strong country, democracy, equality, civilization"; about the Party's outstanding leaders in its 100-year glorious history.
According to Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, the content of the scripts has vividly reflected the great contributions of the Party to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. The scripts not only focus on the great historical milestones of the Party but also pay attention to the stories of ordinary people, typical figures of the revolutionary cause from 1930 to the present. Many works deeply depict the struggle of generations of Party members and people.
There are 70 documentary and feature film scripts participating in the contest. The documentary scripts cover a wide range of areas of life, new issues of the country related to the Party's policies, guidelines and leadership; the close relationship between the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army.
The film script focuses on portraying the image of President Ho Chi Minh, closely linking his revolutionary life with the Vietnamese revolution; the image of a number of revolutionaries and the Vietnamese revolutionary movement is the centerpiece to build the script's content.

Many historical events in the process of the Party's revolutionary leadership have been mentioned and recreated. The group of topics on Party building and rectification, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, innovating the Party's leadership methods; fighting against peaceful evolution; preventing and combating corruption; protecting the Party and the socialist regime have been of interest to some authors in developing scenarios.
At the end of the competition, for feature film scripts, the jury selected and ranked 01 Second Prize (no First Prize) for the script "Genius Choice", author Le Ngoc Minh (Hanoi) with a prize value of 50 million VND. 03 Third Prizes for the scripts: "First Spring", author Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly (Hanoi); "Faith and Love", author Dao Thuy Trang (Hanoi); "Legendary Footprints", author Doan Tuan (Hanoi).
In addition, there are 02 Consolation Prizes for the scripts: "A strange fate", author Nguyen Anh Tuan (Hanoi) and "The red migration", author Dang Thu Ha (Hanoi).
In the documentary script award, the jury selected and ranked 01 Second Prize (no First Prize) for the script "Young journalist looking for writer Son Tung in "Ho Chi Minh's light", author Dao Tue Trinh (Hanoi), with a prize value of 30 million VND.
02 Third Prizes for the script "Van Cao - The Party with many talents, The Party with genius", author Giang Ha Vy and Nguyen Hoai Giang (Hanoi); script "The old school by the Cong river", author Nguyen Thi My Trang (Hanoi).
