(Fatherland) - On the evening of December 6, in Hanoi, the People's Army Newspaper (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) coordinated with the Press and Publishing Department (Central Propaganda Department), the People's Army Publishing House and the North Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank to organize the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the 15th Writing Contest "Simple but Noble Examples" (2023-2024) with the theme "Imprints of soldiers in peacetime".
This is an activity of practical cultural and political significance, aiming to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).

Attending the program were General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Party Central Committee member, Standing member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Phan Xuan Thuy; representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
Launched from June 2023 to the end of October 2024, the 15th Writing Contest "Ordinary but Noble Examples" with the theme "Imprints of soldiers in peacetime" received nearly 1,000 entries from many writers nationwide. The authors discovered and honored hundreds of exemplary soldiers, former soldiers, and veterans with simple but practical actions, rich in humanistic values, convincing and spreading strongly, leaving a strong mark in all areas of social life. Many of the characters reflected in the contest are heroes, generals, and veterans who have experienced the battlefield and now continue to contribute their intelligence and efforts on the new front, along with many examples of officers and soldiers who are silently and selflessly dedicating themselves day and night for the peace and happiness of people across the country.

In particular, at this year's contest, the Organizing Committee selected and honored 14 characters who are generals and heroes of the People's Armed Forces. Each character in the works truly represents the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, preserving and promoting the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 35 prizes to authors and groups of authors with the best works, including 1 Special prize, 3 A prizes, 8 B prizes, 11 C prizes and 12 consolation prizes. In which, the Special prize was awarded to author Tran Hoang Tien with a series of 2 articles: "Footprints of General Ba Tra". Three A prizes were awarded to authors and groups of authors: Nguyen Hong Hai, Pham Hoang Ha, Hoang Lien Viet with a series of 3 articles "General Vo Tien Trung: Willing to dedicate his whole life to the revolution"; Phung Van Khai with a series of 3 articles "Writer Chu Lai is passionate about the topic of soldiers in literature" and Lieutenant General Nguyen Manh Dau with the work "Brave general with reputation on the battlefield, complete talent and virtue".
On this occasion, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, launched the 16th Writing Contest "Simple but Noble Examples" (2024 - 2025).
