The awarding of the certificate of “Best Tourist Village in 2024” was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Nam province, and delegates, domestic and international media agencies.
Tra Que Vegetable Village, Quang Nam Province, has a history dating back to the 17th century and is famous for its traditional, unique organic vegetable growing methods. Currently, Tra Que Village is oriented to combine agricultural development with community tourism activities, attracting the attention of domestic and international tourists.
Tra Que Vegetable Village was honored by UN Tourism as "Best Tourist Village in 2024" based on 9 criteria: Cultural and natural resources; Promotion and conservation of cultural resources; Economic sustainability; Social sustainability; Environmental sustainability; Tourism development and value chain integration; Tourism governance and priorities; Infrastructure and connectivity; Health, security, safety.
Tra Que Vegetable Village (Cam Ha Commune) is located 3km northeast of Hoi An Ancient Town. Currently, Tra Que Village has 202 households participating in vegetable growing activities with 326 direct workers on an area of 18 hectares of cultivated land, bringing in a stable source of income.
Tra Que Vegetable Village is the only representative of Vietnam to be awarded this certificate in 2024 and is the third village of our country to be honored by UN Tourism after Thai Hai Village (Thai Nguyen) in 2022, Tan Hoa Village (Quang Binh) in 2023.
The UN Tourism Best Tourist Village Award for Tra Que Vegetable Village is a recognition of the efforts in preserving indigenous cultural values; traditional crafts; long-standing lifestyles; creativity and focus on developing sustainable, community-based tourism and services; demonstrating the kindness and hospitality of local people.
This prestigious award is an opportunity for Tra Que Vegetable Village to step out into the world and gradually become a bright spot for tourism in Quang Nam in particular and Vietnam in general.
