“During the long and arduous years, generations of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and the heroic Cambodian people, fought and sacrificed to defeat the Pol Pot regime to liberate the nation, regain independence and freedom for the country of the eternal Pagoda and its development today. That noble sacrifice has contributed to enhancing the solidarity, friendship and brotherhood between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia. Before the souls of the martyrs, we vow to do our best to serve the Fatherland; to maintain, cultivate and promote the fine traditions of Vietnam and Cambodia. We welcome and bring the remains of the martyrs back to our beloved Vietnam; pray for the souls of the martyrs to rest in eternal peace, and for the great contributions of the heroes and martyrs of the Fatherland to be forever engraved.” Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Gia Lai Provincial Specialized Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich affirmed.

The fresh blood of countless heroic martyrs, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts was shed for the country of pagodas, for the cause of national liberation, helping Cambodia escape the most brutal genocide regime in the world, and from there, rise from the ashes.
“The remains of 8 martyrs before each of us are historical evidence affirming that the Cambodian people will never forget the great sacrifices of the heroic martyrs of the volunteer army and Vietnamese experts who contributed to the overthrow of the Pol Pot genocidal regime. On behalf of the leaders of Stung Treng province, I would like to express the deep gratitude of the leaders of the Party, State and people of our fraternal Vietnam.
