Meeting to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts helping the Lao revolution

On the morning of October 27, the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Military Experts Helping the Lao Revolution in Thanh Hoa province held a ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Military Experts Helping the Lao Revolution (October 30, 1949 - October 30, 2024).

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Dau Thanh Tung, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Colonel Viengxay Soulivong, Lao Defense Attaché in Vietnam; Colonel Nguyen Quang Huan, Deputy Head of the National Liaison Committee of the Vietnam National Military Academy and Military Academy to Laos; representatives of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnam National Military Academy of Ninh Binh and Vinh Phuc provinces; representatives of the provincial departments, branches, sectors and unions, and more than 300 members representing nearly 3,000 former comrades of the Vietnam National Military Academy and Military Academy to Laos in Thanh Hoa province.

Following President Ho Chi Minh's teaching "Helping the people of other countries means helping yourself", many generations of cadres and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Army did not fear difficulties and hardships, accepted sacrifices, fought side by side with the Lao revolutionary forces, contributing to the glorious victory of the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos in the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism. October 30 is considered the traditional day of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Army helping the Lao revolution.

After the liberation day, the Lao revolution faced pressure from domestic and international reactionary forces. At the request of Laos, in late 1976 and early 1977, the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Army continued to return to Laos, helping Laos defeat the enemy's plot to invade and protect the revolutionary achievements. On December 31, 1987, the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Army in Laos withdrew completely (leaving only a few forces behind), gloriously completing the historic mission of helping the Lao revolution. The important contributions of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Army were recognized by the Party, State and Lao People's Army, and were awarded many noble prizes.

Throughout the 50-year journey of helping the Lao revolution fight the common enemy, the Party Committee, army and people of all ethnic groups in Thanh Hoa province have sent tens of thousands of their sons to Laos to carry out international missions against the French colonialists and the invading American imperialists in the formations of Divisions 316, 324, 968, 678, and the 217th Engineer Regiment... They accepted countless hardships and sacrifices, determined to complete their missions excellently. Among them, many soldiers made outstanding achievements and were awarded the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, such as: Hero Lo Van Buong, Xuan Le commune (Thuong Xuan), Hero Le Van Trung, Thieu Ngoc commune (Thieu Hoa)...

Representative of Lao students studying in Thanh Hoa province expressed gratitude for the contributions of QTN and CGQS Vietnam to the Lao revolution.

In 2009, Thanh Hoa established the Thanh Hoa Provincial QTN Liaison Committee with 4,600 members in 24 districts, towns, cities and traditional delegations participating. The Thanh Hoa QTN Liaison Committee is a collective member of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, a member of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations. Over the past 15 years of establishment, the Liaison Committee has successfully organized 3 Congress terms. During the past 3 terms, the Liaison Committee has regularly cared for the spiritual life and protected the rights and interests of members; declared and awarded medals and medals of the Lao State to more than 3,500 members. Among them, many cadres and members have performed well in people's foreign affairs and received awards from the Lao Party, State, the national Liaison Committee and the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that this is an opportunity to commemorate and express gratitude for the great contributions of generations of Vietnamese military officers and soldiers in Laos to the revolutionary cause of the two Parties and two States, for the independence and freedom of the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos. At the same time, he emphasized that this is also an opportunity to propagate and educate the people, especially the young generation of the two countries, about the precious and rare tradition of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos and Laos and Vietnam.

The Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa province respectfully and highly appreciate the great contributions and noble sacrifices of the Vietnamese military and police comrades in the revolutionary cause of the Lao people, as well as in the cause of building, protecting and developing Thanh Hoa to become more and more prosperous and beautiful.

On this occasion, 4 groups and 8 individuals of the Liaison Committee of Vietnam Military Command and Military Forces to help Laos in Thanh Hoa province received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their many achievements in activities, contributing to the development of the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam and the two provinces of Thanh Hoa and Hua Phan.
