On the evening of January 28 (ie 29th of Lunar New Year ), train SE1 departed from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. This is a special train carrying passengers through New Year's Eve.
According to the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, on New Year's Eve 2025, the railway industry will organize two trains named "Spring Train" with the journey from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
Specifically, train SE1 departs from Hanoi station at 10:10 p.m., with a notable highlight being the beautifully designed community train car.
The decorations on the train are traditional and full of Tet atmosphere with parallel sentences, images of Chung cake wrapping, a small corner of the street covered in yellow sunlight - where an old scholar is writing calligraphy... Folk games such as tug of war, lion dance, puppet show,... The interior stands out with the red tones of peach blossoms, the flower that brings the Tet flavor of the North.

There were a total of 108 passengers traveling from Hanoi, expected to arrive at Saigon station at 6am on the second day of Tet.
At the moment of New Year's Eve in the community car, passengers join in the festive atmosphere with the countdown program of sweet party on the train, counting down the time to welcome the first moment of the new year, wishing each other a good and lucky new year filled with wealth, peace and happiness; participating in lucky draw with many attractive gifts; participating in folk games, enjoying typical dishes of Tet holiday...
Hoang Thuy Linh, in her first experience of the train running through New Year's Eve, shared: "It's very special that my family of 13 members are on this train to participate in many interesting activities. After welcoming New Year's Eve on the train, my family will stop in Quy Nhon to celebrate Tet."
Artist Phan Thi Minh Bach and 11 other artists participated in creating 100 paintings on this special train. All the works will then be displayed at the exhibition area of Hanoi Railway Station.
Artist John Lester, from England, is also very excited to be involved in creating on SE1.
"I spent nearly a year painting at Hanoi station, so I was lucky to be chosen to have the opportunity to paint on the train to celebrate the New Year. I love and want to learn more about Vietnamese culture . Surely, this will be the most memorable Vietnamese Tet for me personally," artist John Lester excitedly said.
Before the train started, the leaders of Vietnam Railways Corporation came to experience the special train car and encouraged and wished a happy new year to the staff on board.
At exactly 10:10 p.m., train SE1 officially rolled out, and officers and employees of Vietnam Railways Corporation stood along the station waving their hands in greeting.
Passengers welcomed the New Year's Eve atmosphere when the train stopped at Nam Dinh station, right at the moment of transition from the old year to the new year.
