On December 31, in Can Gio district, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a groundbreaking ceremony to build and repair houses for poor and near-poor households.
The program is part of the city's plan to promptly respond to the movement, striving to eliminate 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households before April 30, 2025.
Previously, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of the city to review and make a list of households in need of support and priority levels by area, to have a fair and transparent allocation of resources.
Thereby, statistics show that there are 323 poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties who need to renovate or build new houses. The total estimated cost of supporting construction and repair of houses for a total of 323 cases is about more than 20 billion VND.
The program will be implemented in 2 phases: Phase 1, implementing 100 charity houses, from December 23, 2024 to January 22, 2025; Phase 2, implementing 223 charity houses from February 12, 2025 to before April 30, 2025.
Through the launch of the City Front, many agencies and units have registered to support the program. Specifically, the units have registered and supported more than 25 billion VND for the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses throughout the city.
After the groundbreaking ceremony, the leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city and delegates attended the groundbreaking ceremony to build and repair a house for Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, residing in Giong Ao Hamlet, Can Thanh Town, Can Gio District, a near-poor household with difficult economic circumstances living in a dilapidated house.
