Ho Chi Minh City organizes the 2nd friendship dialogue in 2024

On the afternoon of July 18, Mr. Tran Phuoc Anh - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs informed that the city will organize the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue in 2024 (Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue - FD).

The 2nd FD event in 2024 with the theme “Industrial Transformation: Experience and Priorities in Development Cooperation” took place from September 23-24. The event aims to promote the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and 58 sister cities around the world; at the same time, it is an opportunity to promote the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.

According to Mr. Tran Phuoc Anh, the 2nd FD event in 2024 is an international event organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

The event is an important foundation in effectively implementing the "Strategy to enhance the foreign affairs of Ho Chi Minh City to 2030, vision 2045" and the project "Promoting relations with key localities of countries that are strategic partners of Vietnam to serve the goal of rapid and sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2020-2025".

The highlight of the series of activities is the Mayors' Conference with the participation of leaders of the Central Government, Ministries, and branches; City leaders and representatives of 58 international localities having friendly and cooperative relations with the City such as: Germany, the United States, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, Japan, China, Canada, Finland, etc.

On this occasion, the city held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City International Friendship Symbol at Bach Dang Wharf Park (District 1) with the participation of many international delegates and people.

“In addition, to welcome delegates attending the 2nd FD, the city has also built a series of public diplomacy activities such as walking to see the city's scenery, enjoying egg coffee, watching hot air balloons, cruising on the Saigon River... These cultural exchange and tourism promotion activities contribute to showing the image of Ho Chi Minh City as a dynamic, creative, attractive tourist and investment destination,” said Tran Phuoc Anh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs.
