Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam Sailing Team Excellently Won the Clipper Race Championship 2023-2024 Season

After more than 40,000 nautical miles, 6 ocean crossings, 14 races taking place in 11 months, the Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam yacht racing team of Quang Ninh has excellently won the overall victory with 1 more point than the 2nd ranked team. Thereby becoming the Champion of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race season 2023-2024.

Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam Sailing Team officially became the Champion of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2023-2024 season.

The 14th and final stage of the race is called “Homecoming”. The starting point is Oban, on the West Coast of Scotland, and the finishing point is Portsmouth, on the South Coast of England – the home port from which the teams departed 11 months ago.

Before the 14th stage, the Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam team was the temporary leader. But there was only a 3-point gap between Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam and Perseverance in 2nd place. Zhuhai in 3rd place was only 4 points behind Perseverance. That created an extremely tense and exciting final stage. To consolidate their victory, the Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam team could not finish more than 3 places behind Perseverance in the "Homecoming" stage.

During more than half of the 14th leg, Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam was in 8th place and Perseverance was in 3rd place, 5 places apart, meaning that the overall victory was very close to Perseverance. However, in the sprint stage, Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam with the efforts and determination of the whole team rose to 5th place, thereby narrowing the gap in position on the 14th leg rankings to 2 places, just enough to ensure the overall victory. After many chases and position changes, this ranking was maintained until the end of the race.

Although this is only the second time participating in the race, the Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam sailing team has achieved excellent results and a well-deserved Championship title. In the first time participating in the 2019-2020 season, Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam also did extremely well when surpassing many other famous racing teams to win 3rd place overall.
