Ho Chi Minh City officially announces 10th grade benchmark scores

This afternoon (July 3), the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just announced the benchmark scores for public 10th grade.

Of which, the highest grade 10 benchmark score is Nguyen Thuong Hien High School with 24.25. This is the total score of 3 subjects: Literature, Math, Foreign Language and priority points (if any). Candidates must take all three subjects, not violate the regulations, and not get a failing score (0 points).

The method for calculating admission scores to schools is usually as follows: Admission score = Literature exam score + Foreign language exam score + Math exam score + Priority points (if any).

The test score is calculated on a scale of 0 to 10, with a score of 0.25. The maximum bonus points for priority beneficiaries is 3 points. Successful candidates must take all 3 tests and not receive a score of 0 in any test.

Based on the enrollment quota of each school, the number of applications for each choice and the admission score, the standard score will follow the principle that choice 2 is higher than choice 1 and choice 3 is higher than choice 2.

Students' admission will be based on their 3 registered wishes. Schools are only allowed to accept students admitted to grade 10 according to the list approved by the Department of Education and Training.

The 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City took place on June 5-6. Of the more than 98,000 candidates, about 77,300 were admitted. The rest can study at private high schools, vocational education - continuing education centers or vocational colleges. According to statistics, these places can accept about 51,000 students, mainly based on academic records.

In 2023, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School has the highest 10th grade benchmark score with NV1 being 25.5 - NV2 being 25.75 - NV3 being 26. Coming in second is Gia Dinh High School with NV1 being 24.5 - NV2 being 24.75 - NV3 being 25. High schools in the top 10 with the highest benchmark scores include: Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Huu Huan, Bui Thi Xuan, Phu Nhuan, Tran Phu, Le Quy Don, Mac Dinh Chi, Nguyen Huu Cau.
