According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the suspension will be implemented in 2025 to serve the maintenance and repair of the headquarters, ensuring the best conditions for future tourism activities.
The expected time to reopen the tour program has not been specifically announced.
During the recent New Year holiday, this attraction welcomed about 2,077 domestic and international visitors. This was the last time it was open to visitors before the headquarters underwent maintenance.
According to the Department of Tourism, in 2025, the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Civil and Industrial Works will implement the project "Repair and renovate the headquarters of the City People's Council - People's Committee".
In addition, the city will welcome delegates attending the 50th anniversary celebration of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
The program of visiting the national architectural and artistic relic of the headquarters of the People's Council - People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has recently been evaluated as a unique and new tourism product, contributing to bringing heritage into life.
Tourism products are also a highlight in the tourism promotion campaign "Ho Chi Minh City welcomes you - Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City" after the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to building the image of the Ho Chi Minh City government as friendly, open and close.
After a trial period, from July 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has periodically organized tours to visit the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council - People's Committee building on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month.
According to businesses, the tour of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee headquarters is of great significance in introducing the beauty of ancient French architecture and the history of the city's formation and development.
Visitors have the opportunity to visit prominent areas such as the main lobby, reception rooms and historical artifacts display area.
Therefore, to ensure the service of the celebration, ensure the safety of visitors, labor safety, and ensure the progress of the project, the Department of Tourism temporarily suspends organizing this tour program until further notice.
During the suspension period, the Department of Tourism encourages visitors to participate in other activities and tours in Ho Chi Minh City such as visiting the City Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and other famous cultural and historical sites.
According to the Department of Tourism, the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry is committed to bringing many unique experiences and improving service quality, contributing to promoting the image of a dynamic and modern city to international friends.
The headquarters of the People's Council - People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City is a classical architectural work built from 1898 to 1909, designed by architect Femand Gardès (France). This work is modeled after the city hall in Paris in the Renaissance style.
The building is designed in the form of a tall cast bell tower with a high pointed tower in the middle, and two symmetrical roofs on both sides. The interior is decorated in Baroque and Rococo styles, with Art Nouveau iron doors... and details such as bell towers, garlands, badges, and decorative reliefs are all highly sophisticated and artistic.
Since 1975, the building has been used as the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. In November 2020, the building was ranked as a national monument by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
