At the regular press conference on Ho Chi Minh City's socio-economic situation on the afternoon of December 28, Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that Ho Chi Minh City has a policy of buying back unsold flowers from traders at Binh Dong Wharf (District 8) during the 2024 Lunar New Year to support people.
According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, the funding to implement this program is mobilized from socialized sources.
“To prevent flower traders from having to transport and then transport back flowers or destroy them, Ho Chi Minh City will use the charity fund to buy back flowers when they cannot sell them. The purchased flowers will be used to decorate the flower street at Binh Dong wharf and named the charity flower street. Hopefully, this will bring joy to people during the 2024 Lunar New Year,” said Mr. Hoa.
The spring flower market "On the wharf, under the boat" at Binh Dong wharf is a special market that Ho Chi Minh City residents and many tourists look forward to every spring. Most of the boats carrying Tet flowers here come from the Western provinces such as Ben Tre and Dong Thap.
