Ha Long City will suspend violating tourist establishments

On June 17, Ha Long City People's Committee held a conference to deploy solutions to ensure the tourism business environment in the area.

Information given at the conference, in recent times, especially from the beginning of June 2024 until now, through feedback from people, tourists and information on some social networking sites, some restaurants and cruise ships have provided poor quality services and unreasonable prices.

In addition, there are also illegal taxis and electric cars operating to solicit tourists; price gouging, lack of transparency in prices; street vendors, food hygiene and safety, environmental hygiene, attitudes of service staff towards tourists, etc.

The above mentioned things cause a lot of frustration for tourists and affect the image of Ha Long City tourism.

After listening to the opinions of the delegates, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - Vice Chairman of Ha Long City People's Committee affirmed that in order to bring the best experiences to the people and tourists as well as preserve the brand and image of local tourism, the City government is determined to suspend the operations according to regulations for tourism businesses if violations are detected.

Ha Long City People's Committee requested the City Police to inspect, verify and strictly handle acts of illegal taxis and electric cars soliciting and raising prices, causing frustration for tourists.

In addition, check, review and strictly handle the situation of disguised contract vehicles, illegal taxis, taxis without meters, electric vehicles... that are operating to overcharge and force tourists to pay, with peak concentration in Bai Chay and Hung Thang wards...

At the same time, maintain inspection and handle violations, do not allow protectionism, solicitation, price gouging, restaurant staff standing on the street to solicit customers to use services, causing traffic safety and urban beauty in tourist center wards in the area.

Market Management Team No. 5, Urban Order and Environment Inspection Team strengthen inspection, control, and strictly handle establishments that deliberately violate regulations on listing prices of goods, trading in prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, and goods of unknown origin; strictly handle all acts of profiteering, price increases, service cuts, "ripping off", and "brokerage" .
