For the second consecutive time, Tottenham won the Premier League Player and Manager of the Month awards, as Son Heung-min and coach Ange Postecoglou were honored in September.
Previously, James Maddison and Postecoglou won the Player and Manager of the Month awards for August - the first month of the 2023-2024 Premier League season. This month, Tottenham drew 2-2 with Brentford and then beat Man Utd and Bournemouth with the same score of 2-0. Maddison contributed two assists in the match against Brentford and scored the first goal against Bournemouth.
The following month, Tottenham maintained their unbeaten streak by successively beating Burnley 5-2, Sheffield United 2-1, drawing Arsenal 2-2, and beating Liverpool 2-1 to climb to the top with 20 points, ahead of their city club Arsenal on additional points.
Son scored six goals, starting with a hat-trick against Burnley. The South Korean forward then became the first Tottenham player to score a brace at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. He also scored a goal to help his team beat Liverpool for the first time since 2017. Son moved up to second in the Golden Boot rankings with six goals, level with Newcastle's Alexander Isak and just two behind Man City's Erling Haaland.

Thanks to that, the 31-year-old striker surpassed Julian Alvarez (Man City), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Pedro Neto (Wolves), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) to receive the best player award for September.
Son has won the individual award for the fourth time, after September 2016, April 2017, October 2020, thereby equaling the achievements of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, Mohamed Salah, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Jamie Vardy. Only six players have won more Premier League Player of the Month awards than Son: Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie (5), Steven Gerrard, Cristiano Ronaldo (6) and Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane (7).
Son, who is currently on international duty with South Korea, thanked those who voted for him in a video posted on Tottenham's website. "I just found out I've been named Premier League Player of the Month," the Tottenham captain said. "We want to keep up the good form and I can't wait for the next games. Let's go Spurs."
Meanwhile, Postecoglou was named Premier League Manager of the Month for September for the second consecutive time. He is the first Australian manager to manage in the Premier League, and only the second Australian to win the award, after goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer was named Fulham Player of the Month in February 2010.
The 58-year-old beat fellow players Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery, Eddie Howe and Jurgen Klopp to the award. Postecoglou is also the first manager to win the individual award in both the first two months of a Premier League season since Jurgen Klopp in the 2019-20 championship campaign.

Postecoglou is the ninth Tottenham manager to be honoured, following Gerry Francis (December 1994), Glenn Hoddle (October 2001, August 2002), Martin Jol (December 2004), Harry Redknapp (August 2009, September 2011, November 2011), Andre Villas-Boas (December 2012, February 2013), Mauricio Pochettino (September 2015, February 2016, April 2017), Jose Mourinho (November 2020) and Nuno Espirito Santo (August 2021).
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes won the goal of the month award with a right-footed volley from Jonny Evans in the 1-0 win at Burnley. The Portuguese midfielder has won the individual award for the third time, the best in the Premier League and the same number as Luton Town's new signing Andros Townsend. Fernandes first won the award for his strike against Brighton in June 2020, and was again honoured for his strike against Everton in February 2021.
