Speaking at a meeting with Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi in the capital Islamabad, President Alvi affirmed: "The bilateral relationship between Islamabad and Beijing is of special importance... Both countries are close, trustworthy friends and iron brothers," Xinhua reported.
Thanks to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) - the flagship project of China's Belt and Road Initiative - bilateral relations have reached new heights.
“A road network has been built across Pakistan under the CPEC framework, while infrastructure projects of strategic importance are also included in this mega project,” the leader said.
China is Pakistan's largest trading partner and a major source of foreign direct investment in the South Asian country, Alvi said.
Besides, affirming that cultural andeducational exchanges play a very important role in the strong bilateral friendship, Mr. Aliv said that Pakistan and China are taking steps to deepen the relationship between the people of the two countries.
