The newly released results of a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll show that 54% of voters surveyed said they approved of President-elect Donald Trump's job performance, while 40% said they disapproved. According to the survey results, 91% of Republicans, 49% of independents, and 22% of Democrats approved of Trump's job performance after being elected president. Meanwhile, nearly 75% of Democrats and about 40% of independents said they disapproved of the president-elect's job performance. The approval rate for Trump as president-elect is 12 percentage points higher than the approval rate for incumbent President Joe Biden, which is currently at 42%. The above survey results are considered a positive signal for Trump ahead of his official inauguration. During his first term, Trump's approval rating in Gallup polls has never topped 50% and has only peaked at 49% a few times. Pollster Mark Penn said the polls are crucial for Trump if he wants to govern the country well. The survey comes as President-elect Trump begins the transition process to be sworn in on January 20. During this period, Trump has also announced many nominations for his future cabinet. Trump has announced personnel for important positions, including Republican Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State and Republican Representative Elise Stefanik as US Ambassador to the United Nations. Trump has also announced controversial picks such as former Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz as Attorney General and Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense.
