Chief of General Staff, General Baqeri made the statement at a meeting with Pakistan Army Chief, General Asim Munir in the Iranian capital Tehran.
General Baqeri assessed that the global balance of power was shifting towards Asia and the East despite “global arrogance”, referring to the US and its Western allies, which had recklessly taken measures to prevent the emergence of a future world order.
According to General Baqeri, Iran and Pakistan are two “important” countries in the Muslim world and the West Asian region with shared borders and security concerns, as a result of the “irresponsible” US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 after 20 years of “occupation”.
The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces also stressed the need for stronger cooperation between the two countries to ensure security along their shared border.
