Summary of socialized education work to solidify schools, classrooms and public housing for teachers

This morning, October 25, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a conference to review the socialization of education in consolidating schools, classrooms and public housing for teachers in the period 2013 - 2023; deploying tasks and solutions in the coming time. Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long attended and directed the conference.

According to the report of the Ministry of Education and Training, in the 10-year period from 2013 to 2023, the system of school facilities, classrooms and public housing for teachers has made significant progress thanks to the attention and investment from the Government, the Ministry of Education and Training and the strong participation of localities and ministries and branches.

The socialization of education plays an important role, contributing significantly to the consolidation of schools and classrooms and the construction of public housing for teachers. By 2023, the school and classroom system had improved significantly. The total number of classrooms nationwide increased to 628,571, of which 86.6% were consolidated, an increase of more than 20% compared to 2013. Specifically, the consolidation rate at preschool level reached 83%, primary school reached 83.2%, and secondary school reached 94.9%.

By July 2023, the rate of schools meeting national standards at all levels: 56.9% of preschool schools; 62.8% of primary schools; 72.3% of secondary schools; 49.6% of high schools; and 44.2% of multi-level schools.

In the period 2013-2023, the socialized capital to invest in building classrooms and public housing for teachers is very large. Nationwide, more than 36,000 classrooms and 1,300 public housing for teachers have been built, with a total mobilized budget of about 33,000 billion VND.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training identified: Continuing to strengthen the leadership of Party committees and authorities at all levels in promoting the socialization of education, especially the consolidation of schools, classrooms and public housing for teachers; promoting communication work; strengthening the planning of school networks...

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized: To continue promoting the achieved results, the Ministry of Education and Training is requested to uphold the spirit of determination to successfully implement the set goals, tasks and solutions, striving to have 100% of classrooms solidified by 2030 (about 75,380 classrooms) and invest in building enough public rooms for teachers according to demand (about 10,794 public rooms for teachers).

It is recommended that the Ministry of Education and Training coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to continue researching, reviewing and proposing preferential policies to encourage the strong participation of businesses and social organizations in the socialization of education, focusing on consolidating schools, supporting teaching equipment, and increasing the number of public housing for teachers.

Directing the review and rearrangement of the school and classroom network to invest and mobilize investment with focus and key points, ensuring feasibility and efficiency, avoiding waste and negativity...

For provinces and cities, it is necessary to continue reviewing the planning of the school and classroom network, paying attention to ensuring land funds for building schools and classrooms; ensuring the budget for education and training, allocating resources to effectively implement projects related to education and training in national target programs; proactively promoting socialization to mobilize investment resources for education and training.
