Attending the meeting and dialogue with Ms. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala were about 50 delegates who are Vietnamese female entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Ngozi Okonzio Iweala, Director General of the WTO, introduced the WTO organization along with WTO initiatives to increase women's economic empowerment and WTO programs/plans in coordination with Vietnam in promoting and supporting women enterprises to participate in international trade.
On the occasion of meeting directly with Vietnamese female entrepreneurs, she met with leaders and visited a pioneering enterprise in inclusive business (social impact business) owned by women - Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company.
Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) emphasized that, as the focal agency of Vietnam in managing, implementing and coordinating activities related to trade promotion, the Trade Promotion Agency has actively deployed and coordinated with international agencies and organizations to take advantage of technical support from foreign partners in helping to improve the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises, associations and localities.
In particular, the Trade Promotion Agency has been actively promoting activities to support the output promotion of products of enterprises; including female enterprises. Within the framework of cooperation with the International Trade Center (ITC), the two sides have established the SheTrades Vietnam Project Office to more effectively support female entrepreneurs and female start-up enterprises who wish to effectively participate in the global value chain.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, Founder and President of the Pioneering Women Leaders Network (WeLead), Founding President of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN), President of the Global Women's Summit in Vietnam, said that this is an opportunity for Vietnamese female entrepreneurs/women-owned businesses to be updated on the activities of the WTO, the programs/plans of the WTO in coordination with Vietnam in promoting and supporting female entrepreneurs to participate in international trade and to be consulted on issues that Vietnamese female entrepreneurs are interested in.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh hopes that the sharing of the WTO Director General will be invaluable knowledge to help female entrepreneurs attending today and through WeLead will spread to the Vietnamese female entrepreneur community so that they can be more confident when participating in international trade.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Lien, Co-founder of Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company - Vice President of Welead, Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company is honored to be chosen as the host for this important dialogue event. The company wishes to convey to the head of the WTO the spirit of Vietnamese female entrepreneurs, the way Vietnamese female entrepreneurs face challenges and gradually overcome them.
Hereby, Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company introduces the sustainable and innovative business strategy of a science and technology enterprise, especially the orientation towards an inclusive economic model - a female entrepreneur enterprise that creates a positive impact on social development.
The meeting and dialogue with the WTO Director General is one of the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, especially with the support of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the WTO, ITC, Welead and Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company and other relevant organizations to support female entrepreneurs/women-owned enterprises to have the opportunity to meet, exchange and consult with the highest leaders of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to improve knowledge, access opportunities for sustainable business development and participate in the process of penetrating the world market of Vietnam. |
