During the meeting, Mr. Tsutomu Nara introduced the Ajinomoto Group and the sustainable business strategy of Ajinomoto Vietnam Company, emphasizing the company's "purpose of existence" as "contributing to bringing health and happiness to the people and society of Vietnam through providing quality products and valuable initiatives."

Mr. Tsutomu Nara explained that “the purpose of existence” is the reason why Ajinomoto Vietnam operates in Vietnam, more specifically, what or how Ajinomoto Vietnam can contribute to society, shifting from a company-centric approach to a society-centric approach, from “what the company wants to be” to “how the company contributes to society”.

At the event, students learned about ASV (Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value) - Ajinomoto Group's shared value creation activities, aiming to co-create economic and social values through business activities.

According to Mr. Tsutomu Nara, Ajinomoto Vietnam focuses on promoting ASV in 3 main ways, including:

The first is Repositioning products and markets. The company identifies all the needs, benefits and social issues related to its products, thereby discovering new opportunities for differentiation and repositioning in traditional markets, as well as realizing the potential of new markets that were previously overlooked. For example, people's excess salt consumption is the main cause of high blood pressure and serious complications such as stroke and cardiovascular disease. To help people reduce salt consumption while still keeping the food delicious, since 2023, the company has launched salt-reduced products such as Phu Si Salt-Reduced Soy Sauce, Kho Quet Instant Sauce, Aji-ngon Salt-Reduced Seasoning Powder, etc., helping to improve consumers' health while increasing business value for the company.

Second, Improve productivity in the value chain. Improving productivity in the daily operations of each department and division is the way to implement ASV, both creating greater economic benefits such as increasing output and reducing costs, and solving social issues including the environment, labor safety, working conditions of employees, and supporting community development.

Third, Developing local communities. The company's implementation of initiatives and activities to contribute to improving nutrition and health for people in Vietnam through projects such as School Meals, Maternal and Child Nutrition Program, etc. clearly demonstrates its contribution and companionship with the local community. Through projects in close coordination with authorities and mass organizations such as hospitals and schools, the company has established an "ecosystem" with Ajinomoto to create social values in parallel with economic values.
