Welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Genghis Khan Airport, Ulan Bator, on the Mongolian side were: Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg; Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam Jigjee Sereejav; Director of the Asian Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs G. Hulan; Acting Director of the Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ts. Ankhbayar.
On the Vietnamese side, there were: Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Nguyen Tuan Thanh and a number of officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia.
Genghis Khan Airport was brightly decorated with the Vietnamese and Mongolian flags. A Mongolian girl presented milk cakes according to Mongolian tradition and flowers to General Secretary and President To Lam.
Mongolian Foreign Minister B. Battsetseg greeted General Secretary and President To Lam and invited him to walk on the red carpet along two rows of honor guards and shake hands with Mongolian officials who came to welcome him.
Vietnam and Mongolia have a long-standing traditional friendship. The two countries established diplomatic relations on November 17, 1954, marking an important milestone in the history of bilateral relations. Mongolia was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam and Vietnam was the first country in Southeast Asia with which Mongolia established diplomatic relations.
During the visit, General Secretary and President To Lam is expected to discuss with senior Mongolian leaders major orientations and important measures to further strengthen political trust and enhance cooperation in many priority areas of both sides, especially politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
This State visit to Mongolia by General Secretary and President To Lam aims to continue implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness and activeness in comprehensive, deep and effective international integration of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution 34 of the Politburo on a number of major orientations for implementing the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress and Directive 25 of the Secretariat on promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy to 2030; promoting and deepening bilateral cooperation with each partner; to affirm Vietnam's consistent policy of attaching importance to friendly relations with traditional friendly countries...
