On June 16, at the Hai An District Administrative - Political Center, Hai Phong City, the City's Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee held the opening ceremony of the 12th Red Journey program and honored outstanding blood donors in 2024.

Attending the program were comrades: Nguyen Hai Anh, Vice President, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society; Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Hai Phong City; and representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, localities and units.
In Hai Phong, voluntary blood donation is an activity that the city's leaders, departments, branches, organizations, and localities actively participate in and always consider this a humane act that every citizen of the Port City has the responsibility to do.
In 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, the city organized 118 voluntary blood donation campaigns and received more than 50,000 units of blood, the rate of voluntary blood donors continued to reach more than 97% and the rate of repeat blood donors reached over 70%.
The highlight is that Hai Phong has mobilized more than 70% of the total number of blood bags collected from people donating 350ml of blood. Hai Phong not only has enough blood to serve medical treatment at the city's hospitals but also helps provide blood to some hospitals in neighboring provinces during times of blood shortage.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Head of the City's Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee, expressed his honor when Hai Phong City continued to be selected by the National Red Journey Organizing Committee as one of 51 localities nationwide to implement the 12th Red Journey program. With the message "Connecting Vietnamese blood", the blood donation festival "Giot Hong Dat Cang" not only provides the necessary blood needs of the city but is also a large, humane media event, contributing to educating love between people in the community.
On the occasion of World Voluntary Blood Donor Day 2024, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the City People's Committee and the City Red Cross Society commended and rewarded 3 families and 48 outstanding individuals in the city's voluntary blood donation movement; presented flowers to encourage 02 outstanding blood donors attending the Ceremony to honor 100 Vietnamese blood donors held in the capital Hanoi.
Officials, civil servants, public employees and workers of Hai An district participate in voluntary blood donation.
After the Honoring Ceremony, civil servants, public employees, workers, Hai An District People and volunteers participated in the Blood Donation Festival of Hai Phong Red Drops and paraded to promote and respond to the Red Journey 2024 through the main streets of the city.
