Scientists honored at the event |
Since its launch in Vietnam in 2009, the L'Oréal – UNESCO Science Prize "For Women in Science" has honored and awarded research scholarships to 38 talented young female scientists from Vietnam (including 3 who were awarded the International Young Talent Award in 2015, 2018 and 2022) for their outstanding contributions in the fields of Life Sciences and Materials Sciences.
The L'Oréal – UNESCO "For Women in Science" Science Awards program has supported them to continue pursuing their passion for science and further their research careers, contributing to narrowing the gender gap in science.
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the program in Vietnam, female scientists of the L'Oréal - UNESCO Science Award program "For the Development of Women in Science" were awarded commemorative medals for their great contributions to Vietnamese science in particular and international science in general.
This activity aims to recognize the continuous efforts of outstanding female scientists and honor the new achievements they have made in research since receiving the Award. In addition, the event also honors the strong commitment of 38 female scientists in the L'Oréal - UNESCO Science Award "For Women in Science" program in their efforts to pursue the path of science, promoting sustainable development in Vietnam and globally.
Within the framework of the event, the program also introduced an exhibition on the research journey of female scientists since they received the L'Oréal - UNESCO "For the Development of Women in Science" Science Award and a scientific conference with 6 new studies: Genetic diseases and applications in pre-implantation embryo diagnosis; Establishing salt tolerance genes for Vietnamese rice plants; Research on manufacturing bioink and their applications in regenerative medicine; Probiotic nasal spray - Supporting the treatment and prevention of respiratory infections, towards an antibiotic-free future; Energy, Environment and Sustainable Agriculture towards the United Nations' sustainable development goals; Early detection of breast cancer based on liquid biopsy and AI mammography.
The L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" Awards were established by UNESCO and the L'Oréal Foundation to honor outstanding female scientists and promote gender equality in the research field. The annual L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" Awards program brings together outstanding Vietnamese female scientists whose pioneering research contributes to changing the world through the development of new scientific applications and important research in areas such as health, food security, environment, and many others. |
