Artist Le Khanh said she was happy and moved when she heard her name mentioned at the 29th Mai Vang Awards - 2023. The joy was multiplied when, for the first time, she performed a role different from her forte - Giang Huong in the play "Giang Huong - Late Night Stage" of Thien Dang Stage.

Reporter: Looking back on the past, as spring is coming, how does Le Khanh feel?

- Artist LE KHANH: Thank you Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc for inviting me to participate in the meaningful play "Giang Huong - Late Night Stage"; thank you to the author's family - People's Artist Nguyen Thanh Chau for allowing Thien Dang Stage to stage a classic script but with a fresh perspective on the artist's love for the stage and art. Thanks to that, I had sublime moments with Giang Huong.

I dared to renew myself and was awarded the Mai Vang Award. That means the audience has opened their arms to welcome and accept me, giving me more strength to participate in many new plays of Thien Dang Stage in 2024.

The Mai Vang Award is an encouragement for stage artists to strive for new achievements. I would like to thank the audience and readers of the Lao Dong Newspaper for their votes.

Having been successful with comedy, when playing the role of a female character, with her acting and singing style, what does Le Khanh think?

- This is the 6th time I have received the Mai Vang Award, each time it is a role to remember the very happy journey of an artist's life. The role of Giang Huong, as I said, is very different from my forte. It is a role that is heavy on psychology, requiring maintaining a state of mind and maturity in acting.

I like the conclusion of the play by Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc when he helped me understand that everyone has a dream. Some people can make that dream come true, some can’t. Many people have the same dream and to achieve that dream, they have to exchange sweat, blood and tears. Some people even accept loss and sacrifice to achieve their aspirations.

The character Giang Huong, despite facing many difficulties and loneliness in her marriage, is still brave and keeps her artistic work sublimated in the true sense. I love the role of Giang Huong and thank fate for giving me this role.

What does Le Khanh think when joining Thien Dang Theater?

- The opening performance of Thien Dang Stage in 2023 was not only in the top 4 of the most favorite performance categories of the 29th Mai Vang Awards but was also awarded the B prize by the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association.

Thien Dang is striving to build a decent art scene. As the message that Thanh Loc shared: "I die today so that that dream can be formed for the generation after me", that is the message of making "decent art" that the Thien Dang artist collective wants to aim for. We - the artists who have been associated with Thien Dang Stage - believe that in our dedication today, we must accept everything to have a decent art scene in the future.

. Having just been invited by the Department of Culture - Sports of Ho Chi Minh City to visit metro line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien with some colleagues, how does Le Khanh feel?

- The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and the Department of Culture and Sports have just coordinated with the Urban Railway Management Board and the Urban Railway Company No. 1 to organize for about 200 artists to travel on the first metro line of Ho Chi Minh City. It can be said that this is a special experience, aiming to inspire the artists.

I believe that after this exciting trip, many quality works will be introduced to respond to the campaign to compose, stage and promote literary and artistic works towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification with the theme "HCMC - 50 years of proud heroic epic" launched by the City People's Committee.

I feel very excited with the airy space of the metro station, creating convenient conditions for people to travel. I hope that people in Ho Chi Minh City in general and Thu Duc City in particular will soon enjoy this modern means of transportation.

Ho Chi Minh City now has a completely different look, showing a vibrant vitality. Metro Line 1 is short, but I believe Ho Chi Minh City will continue to develop other metro lines to better serve the people.

What new projects will Le Khanh carry out in 2024?

- I'm very hesitant to say what I'm going to do in advance, because art is always full of unknowns, requiring creativity and effort to achieve results.

My new project is still waiting ahead. My goal is always that the new role must be better, more convincing, worthy of the 6 Mai Vang Awards I have won in my artistic career.

What does Le Khanh expect from the stage in 2024?

- I hope that artists themselves will be able to freely pursue their creative passion. The stages will have more high-quality artistic products that are supported by the audience.

In particular, in 2024, the Mai Vang Award of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper will enter its 30th year. Hopefully, the audience and readers will continue to love and vote for artists who deserve to receive the Mai Vang statue.

In the new spring, I hope that the Mai Vang Award will continue to be the motivation for us to devote more to art. Once again, I would like to thank the Mai Vang Award, thank the readers and the audience for their love for the play "Giang Huong - Late Night Stage" and my role as Giang Huong.

Artist Le Khanh's real name is Le Kim Khanh, born on December 24, 1981. She is one of the rare actors who has been voted by readers and audiences for the Mai Vang Award 6 times for her roles: Kay ("A Stolen Life" - 2010), Fan ("Star Singer" - 2011), Hoa ("Python Hotpot" - 2012), Tyra Boi Ngoc ("Crazy Butterfly Soul" - 2013), Hong ("Need Someone to Love" - ​​2015), Giang Huong ("Giang Huong - Late Night Theater" - 2023).

Le Khanh was born in Ben Tre, dreamed of becoming an actress since childhood and later studied at the Faculty of Acting at the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2002, she participated in her first TV series "Long cyclo" (TFS Film Studio). After that, she went to Phu Nhuan Drama Theater, then transferred to IDECAF Drama Theater.

Le Khanh is loved by the audience through the plays: "A Stolen Life", "Two-Piece Killer", "Forbidden Land", "Bitter Medicine for Diseases"...
