According to statistics, there are currently over 12,454 households affected by the storm, of which 22 households had their houses completely collapsed, many households had their property damaged, causing great losses. The whole province has 3 deaths, 10 injured.
The entire province and the education sector quickly stabilized the facilities, ensuring teaching and learning, with the spirit that schools that ensure safety will allow students to go to school. In places that are not yet safe for going to school, students will be arranged to study online or take time off.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son province, Ha Thi Khanh Van, the provincial education sector has proactively directed units to develop plans and promptly relocate assets, machinery, equipment, tables, chairs, records, and books to safe places to ensure they are not damaged, broken, or lost, and to minimize damage caused by the storm.

Currently, the whole province has 78 schools of all levels flooded, up to now the water has receded. 118/650 schools were affected, damage to facilities is estimated at 3.2 billion VND. 158 students and 38 teachers were affected after the storm and flood.
The Department of Education and Training directs schools to continue monitoring the storm's circulation, preventing and responding to possible heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides; coordinating with local forces to urgently support and overcome damage; cleaning and sanitizing schools/classrooms immediately after the storm to ensure safety, cleanliness, and disease prevention to continue teaching and learning. Mobilizing forces to support schools, support officials, teachers, staff, students affected by storm No. 3.

The Department has also carried out infrastructure repairs and moved equipment from unsafe locations. At the same time, it has organized inspection teams from the Department to localities and schools, especially schools near rivers and streams, at risk of flooding and landslides, to promptly remedy the situation. It has organized psychological support for teachers and students, especially affected families.
At the meeting, leaders of units under the Ministry of Education and Training discussed and proposed to the Education Department of Lang Son province to ensure safe conditions for students and teachers to return to school; compile statistics on the shortage of textbooks, report specifically on damage to facilities; promptly establish a working group to assess affected schools; strengthen education on response to natural disasters and climate change in schools, etc.

Sharing and sympathizing with the ethnic people of Lang Son province and teachers, managers, staff of the education sector, and students directly affected by storm No. 3, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong highly appreciated the proactive leadership and direction of the locality; the efforts and mobilization of resources to overcome the situation of the education sector and especially schools with the spirit of not being subjective, being flexible in organizing teaching and learning activities, in accordance with the spirit of "wherever the water recedes, clean up promptly, and bring students back to school at that time".

The Deputy Minister was pleased that all schools in Lang Son province could return to normal teaching from September 16, and noted that the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son province would continue to carry out key tasks in the coming time.
That is, continue to review and grasp the situation of affected teachers and students to provide timely material and spiritual support, ensuring the right support for the right people and the right job.
Continue to compile statistics on damage to facilities, review affected school and classroom equipment and report to the Ministry of Education and Training.
Actively direct the work of cleaning, disinfecting, and cleaning schools/classrooms, especially those that organize boarding for students. The Department of Education and Training has issued a directive to avoid food safety and hygiene after storms and floods...
Build and organize normal teaching and learning activities, paying attention to adjusting the school year framework appropriately according to the local situation. Pay special attention to students in the first and last grades to ensure the quality of teaching and learning.

The local education sector also needs to draw lessons from experience in directing and overcoming damage after the storm. Especially the work of communicating clearly, grasping the situation, with a proactive spirit, absolutely not subjective, focusing on early prevention from afar.
The Deputy Minister hopes that the Provincial People's Committee will continue to pay attention to the education sector, and that localities will have appropriate allocation and investment, and pay attention to educational facilities, especially kindergartens and primary schools, remote schools, and remote areas, to ensure quality and educational goals, and successfully complete the tasks of the 2024-2025 school year.
On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Education Trade Union, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong presented support of 1 billion VND to the Lang Son Education sector.
On this occasion, Vietnam Education Publishing House presented 300 sets of textbooks to the Education Department of Lang Son province. Hong Ha Stationery Joint Stock Company presented 15,000 sets of school supplies; supported the repair of damage to 23 school libraries affected by the storm.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 14, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong and his delegation visited and presented gifts to Hoa Hong Kindergarten, Trang Dinh district, Lang Son province.

According to teacher Nong Thi Van Anh - Principal of Hoa Hong Kindergarten, due to the dangerous level of storm No. 3, the school mobilized staff, teachers and employees of the unit to move assets and equipment from the first floor to the upper floors. However, due to the rapid rise in water levels, some kitchen equipment and classrooms were not moved in time and were flooded and damaged; the playground and outdoor toys were also damaged.
After the storm passed, the school mobilized all resources of teachers, staff, parents and students, with the support of the Lang Son Provincial Military Command, to quickly fix, clean up, repair damaged items due to storms and floods, handle the environment, disinfect the entire campus, classrooms, prevent epidemics, etc.; quickly put the school back into operation. At the same time, check and repair the electrical system to ensure safety before reusing.

Acknowledging the proactive recovery work of the education sector and the coordination of local departments, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong requested the Department of Education and Training to continue reviewing affected schools, reinforcing classrooms, strictly implementing the telegrams of the Minister of Education and Training, allowing students to study only in safe places, and in places at risk, coordinating with specialized agencies to assess and avoid risks that could occur at any time.
In Trang Dinh district, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Education Trade Union donated 200 million VND to the district's Department of Education and Training to buy equipment and school supplies for students and support the families of teachers and students in difficult circumstances.
