Scientific seminar "The current situation of research, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of Vietnamese press and media in the renovation period"

On July 24, in Ha Long City, the Provincial Journalists Association and the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda organized a scientific seminar on "The current status of research, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of Vietnamese press and media in the renovation period".

The discussion took place enthusiastically with many opinions on applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing Vietnamese press and media in the renovation period.

The seminar is part of the state-level scientific project on the application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of Vietnamese journalism and media in the renovation period. In his opening speech and report on the scientific seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Duc Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Chairman of the School Council, emphasized: The world and regional situation is posing many new challenges for the current press and media in Vietnam. The 13th National Congress of the Party sets out the requirement of "building a professional, humane and modern press and media". The core values of Ho Chi Minh's thought on revolutionary journalism need to be disseminated, applied and promoted in the new development context. These are very difficult and complicated issues that require careful research and assessment of the current status of application and creative development in the current renovation process in an objective, comprehensive and systematic manner. Based on this reality, the seminar with the theme: "The current situation of research, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of Vietnamese press and media in the renovation period" is an opportunity for scientists, researchers, leaders and managers of departments, ministries, branches, press and media agencies at the central and local levels to exchange and discuss in order to evaluate the achievements, limitations and causes of the achievements and limitations, thereby clarifying the issues raised in the research, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of Vietnamese press and media in the new period.

In his speech on the topic “Creative application of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology in developing journalism and media in Quang Ninh”, comrade Nguyen The Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Provincial Media Center, affirmed: In Quang Ninh, throughout history, many innovative imprints of the Mining Region press have been witnessed in order to seek directions and solutions for the press to fulfill its mission well. Quang Ninh press has applied and creatively developed his viewpoints and thoughts in building a revolutionary press in order to continuously build a professional and humane revolutionary press, serving the cause of building and defending the Fatherland and developing the locality. Quang Ninh's press was formed early, from the end of 1928, right on the day of the founding of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, the first communists in the Mining Region decided to publish a newspaper called Than Newspaper, written on half a page of small-sized student paper, distributed to miners to propagate and enlighten revolutionary ideals . After Than Newspaper, a series of revolutionary and resistance newspapers in the Mining Region - Quang Ninh were born. By 1983, Quang Ninh television was officially broadcast and Quang Ninh was the first locality in the North to invest in building television. During the development stages, Quang Ninh's press has always been the voice of the Party Committee, government and people of the whole province, contributing with the press nationwide to carry out the mission assigned by the Party. One of the turning point decisions of Quang Ninh in the field of press and communication, demonstrating the creativity in applying President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts in developing the press in the new period, is the merger of Quang Ninh Newspaper, Quang Ninh Radio and Television Station, Provincial Electronic Information Portal and Ha Long Newspaper into the Provincial Media Center in January 2019. This is the first model of a unified provincial press agency in the country, effectively implementing the "converged newsroom" model, exploiting the strength of all types of press. The media campaigns in Quang Ninh were carried out in a systematic manner and became political activities in the press, promoting the emulation movement for creative labor, the spirit of innovation, and actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the province. In recent times, Quang Ninh press works have been constantly creative in the direction of focusing on quality and innovation, but always maintaining the Party's political viewpoints and guidelines; Focus on propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, closely following the province's political goals and tasks to vividly reflect the innovation process, effective policies and methods... Focus on creating high-quality works, many of which are highly ideological, summarizing the practice of the province's major contents and were awarded the highest prize at the National Press Awards, typically the work: Innovation in the Party's leadership method - Viewed from the refinement of the apparatus and staff in Quang Ninh (A prize at the National Press Awards in 2014); the work Controlling the power of cadres - local practice (A prize at the National Press Awards in 2022). Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on revolutionary journalism are always eternal values for the governing bodies, press agencies and journalists to study and apply. The media context in the current digital age requires more and more research and creative application of those viewpoints and ideas so that the press can truly contribute more and more to the revolutionary cause of the Party, building a rich and strong country and happy people.
