Delegate Nguyen Ngoc Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, National Assembly delegate of Hai Duong province, said that the application of artificial intelligence in journalism processes only accounts for 12.82%.

Questioning Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, delegate Nguyen Ngoc Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, said that after nearly 5 years of implementing the press planning and 2 years of implementing the press digital transformation strategy, press activities still have many shortcomings in terms of human resources and finance. The level of maturity of press digital transformation is low (63%), the application of artificial intelligence to business processes accounts for only 12.82%.

For the press to develop sustainably, delegate Nguyen Ngoc Son asked the Minister to clarify the current situation, causes and propose solutions.

Responding to questions, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that in the coming time, it is necessary to promote digitalization and digital transformation of press agencies. The Prime Minister has issued a National Digital Transformation Strategy for the Press.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has also issued a program to implement this strategy, with an important point being the provision of criteria to measure and evaluate the maturity level of press agencies in digital transformation. The Ministry has also established a support center, issued a handbook, and developed a training program for editors-in-chief on digital transformation to create change.

Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong Province Nguyen Thi Viet Nga requested the Minister to question solutions to improve the quality of university training in journalism.

Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong Province, pointed out that the human resource solution mentioned in the report of the Ministry of Information and Communications currently only focuses on training and improving political qualifications, legal expertise, and journalist ethics.

Delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga asked the Minister of Information and Communications to let her know whether there is a need for additional solutions to improve the quality of university training in journalism. And if this is necessary, what specific solutions will the Ministry of Information and Communications advise the Government?

Responding to questions, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung expressed his agreement with delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga's opinion on improving the quality of university training for journalists.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that the university training program for reporters has existed for a long time, has not been adjusted and is not suitable for the digital age.

The Minister said that this training program needs to have its curriculum updated, digital technology training improved, while increasing the rate of professional training and inviting experienced journalists to teach. The Ministry of Education and Training is in charge of this curriculum framework and is expected to issue it this year.

At the end of the morning question-and-answer session with Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, delegate Dinh Thi Ngoc Dung, National Assembly delegate of Hai Duong province, said that the rapid development of social networks today has created enormous pressure on press agencies. The press force has not adapted promptly to the digital media environment.

The delegate asked the Minister of Information and Communications to tell him how he views this issue and what requirements are needed for journalists to improve the quality of journalism in the current digital age?

Responding to questions, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung stated that the basic tools of reporters today are digital technology, digital skills, digital thinking, and digital culture. Therefore, reporters must improve themselves because the digital environment changes very quickly.
