Today, January 20, the Youth Union of Quang Tri Newspaper in coordination with Thanh Border Guard Station organized the 10th program "Bringing Tet to poor villages" in Thanh Commune, Huong Hoa District. Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Quang Tri Newspaper Nguyen Ty; Standing Deputy Secretary of Huong Hoa District Party Committee Ho Van Vinh attended the program.

Within the framework of the program, the organizing committee presented 121 gifts, of which 111 were given to all households in Thanh O village, Thanh commune (each gift included 1 warm blanket, 10 kg of rice, 1 pair of boots and 1 warm coat) with a total value of more than 62 million VND; 10 gifts (each gift was an item worth 500,000 VND) to families in difficult circumstances in Thanh commune, mobilized and connected by Standing Deputy Secretary of Huong Hoa District Party Committee Ho Van Vinh.

Donated the “National Flag Road” project worth nearly 12 million VND; presented 300 pairs of shoes and dozens of books to Thanh Secondary School; 106 warm clothes to students of Thanh Kindergarten; examined and provided free medicine to about 200 people; gave free haircuts to poor students in the locality.

Secretary of the Quang Tri Newspaper Youth Union Le Van Truong said, "Bringing Tet to poor villages" is one of the annual activities organized and maintained by the Quang Tri Newspaper Youth Union for the past 10 years, aiming to help people in especially difficult circumstances in remote, isolated, and border areas of the country.

Through the meaningful gifts mobilized and contributed by the members and youth of the Youth Union, we have shared and brought to the people a warmer and more complete Tet. Thereby, creating motivation for everyone to overcome difficulties, strive to rise up and build their lives.
The 10th "Bringing Tet to poor villages" program was organized to bring a warmer Tet to the people of Thanh commune before the new year of Giap Thin - 2024.

Resources to implement the program come from the connection and mobilization of philanthropists and the contributions of cadres, journalists, reporters, editors and youth union members of Quang Tri Newspaper.

Receiving gifts directly at home, Mrs. Ho Thi Luong (79 years old), a policy beneficiary in Thanh O village, Thanh commune, emotionally said: "Today, the charity program of the Quang Tri Newspaper Youth Union came to give Tet gifts and encouragement, so I am very excited. This concern of the youth union members makes me very happy. This Tet will be more joyful and cozy."

Thanh commune Party Secretary Ho Van Hanh informed that the locality is a particularly difficult border commune, with the highest poverty rate in Huong Hoa district. The residents are Van Kieu ethnic people, accounting for 95%, and their lives mainly depend on slash-and-burn farming.
