The province 'poured' an additional 4.6 billion VND

The above information was just confirmed by Mr. Huynh Tan Tuan - Principal of Quang Nam Medical College today (January 27).

According to Mr. Tuan, this amount of 4.6 billion VND, together with the advance payment, is enough for the school to pay 6 months of salary and social insurance arrears for staff and lecturers.

"On January 26, the school will pay 2 months of salary and social insurance to staff and lecturers. The remaining 4 months will be disbursed in the next few days. Currently, there is a shortage of more than 1.4 billion VND in 10 months of allowances," said Mr. Tuan.

Meanwhile, regarding the remaining funding shortfall compared to the school's needs (more than 1.4 billion VND), the People's Committee of Quang Nam province has directed the school to work with staff and workers to agree on debt settlement and find a solution in the coming time, to avoid complaints and lawsuits.

Regarding enrollment, in 2024, Quang Nam province assigned Quang Nam Medical College 220 enrollment targets for 2 levels: college and intermediate. The total number of students trained in the whole school is about 500 students.

The province is expected to allocate about 10.8 billion VND to the school. The school's funding needs are nearly 16 billion VND. The remaining amount, the school will balance its own revenue to ensure regular spending.

Previously, on December 14, 2023, 17 officers and lecturers working at the Nursing Department and the Basic Health Department of Quang Nam Medical College announced that they would stop working from December 18, 2023.

The reason for the collective decision to stop working is because the school has not paid their salaries and allowances for 6 months (from July 2023 to present). The Nursing and Basic Health Departments met and agreed to stop working until the school resolved the salary and allowance regime.

After being paid, the school's staff and lecturers decided to return to work.

Not only the staff and lecturers of the Nursing and Basic Health Departments, Quang Nam Medical College currently owes 6 months of salary to 114 employees, totaling more than 5.7 billion VND. In addition to salary arrears, the school has also been late in paying insurance for many months.

As of December 18, 2023, 2 lecturers of the Faculty of Basic Medicine stopped teaching, causing 30 students to have to drop out of school.

Recently, Quang Nam Medical College spent 1.2 billion VND to pay 1 month salary and 3 months social insurance for staff and lecturers. Currently, staff and lecturers of this school have returned to work.
