Dien Bien province commits to creating favorable conditions for Danish company to survey and develop wind power

Delegation of Dien Bien province worked with Vestas Development A/S Company - Denmark.

Receiving and working with the Dien Bien Provincial Delegation, Vestas Development A/S Company had Chief Financial Officer Patrik Vilhelm Setterberg and Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi, Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark.

During the visit and working session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do summarized the socio -economic development situation of Dien Bien province and the implementation of wind power projects of Vestas development A/S - Denmark in Dien Bien province. In particular, the province has great potential for developing renewable energy types, including wind power, solar power, biomass power, hydropower and pumped storage hydropower.

Currently, Dien Bien province has approved Vestas Development A/S - Denmark to conduct surveys and research to propose additional planning for 2 wind power projects: Muong Ang wind power plant project with a capacity of 110MW (located in the communes of Ang Cang, Ang Nua, Nam Lich, Muong Ang district; Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien Phu city and Pu Nhi commune, Dien Bien Dong district) and Dien Bien Dong wind power plant project with a capacity of 130MW (located in the communes of Muong Lan, Xuan Lao, Muong Ang district and Xa Dung, Phi Nhu, Muong Luan communes, Dien Bien Dong district)...

In addition, Vestas Development A/S Company has conducted preliminary research and survey of the Na Tong Wind Power Plant Project cluster and Tia Dinh Wind Power Plant in Dien Bien Dong district and has been approved by the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to conduct research and survey to prepare additional planning documents in Official Dispatch No. 4927/UBND-KT dated November 1, 2024.

Also at the meeting, the Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee provided more information on the implementation of the energy development plan (power plan VIII) in Dien Bien province, including the potential for wind power development.

Dien Bien province requested Vestas Development A/S Company to continue to propose the Danish Embassy in Vietnam to recommend to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to supplement the list and scale of wind power capacity in the Planning and Implementation Plan of Power Plan VIII for Dien Bien province to implement wind power projects researched and deployed by the Company in the province.

For the two projects Muong Ang Wind Power Plant and Dien Bien Dong Wind Power Plant, Dien Bien province hopes that Vestas Development A/S Company will complete the survey work, propose to prepare a proposal to supplement the planning of the projects, coordinate with Dien Bien province to request the Ministry of Industry and Trade to submit to the Prime Minister for approval to supplement the list of projects and the scale of wind power development capacity for Dien Bien province into the VIII power planning for implementation in the period 2026 - 2030.

Dien Bien province commits to creating the most favorable conditions for investors according to regulations, and at the same time, working with the Company to urgently synthesize and propose to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to soon approve the list and capacity scale of wind power projects in the Planning and Implementation Plan of Power Plan VIII; support investors in investment incentive policies; direct all levels, sectors and localities to coordinate and create conditions to accelerate the progress of approving investment policies, project appraisal, site clearance and implementation of project investment and construction procedures according to regulations, soon put the project into operation, promote economic efficiency...
