At noon on February 8 (December 29), vendors at the flower market in Da Nang simultaneously hung up discount signs. They even sold and gave away their products at the same time, hoping to sell them all quickly so they could go home and prepare for Tet with their families.
Ms. Tran Chau - a chrysanthemum vendor on Yen The Street (Hoa An Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City) - said that this year she sells chrysanthemums and dahlias.
From December 25, a pair of chrysanthemums cost 600,000 VND but now it is only 350,000 VND/pair. By noon on December 29, it is only 200,000 VND/pot.
This is not a large chrysanthemum, but according to Ms. Chau, many customers still choose to buy it to display on Tet holiday.
This year's dahlias cost 300 thousand VND/pot.
Also wanting to sell at a discount to quickly return home for Tet, Mr. Duy Quang - a merchant selling apricot flowers at Tien Son Sports Palace (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) - also hung a discount sign.
Currently, each 1m to 1.2m high apricot pot costs only 700,000 VND/pot.
"It's close to Tet so we sell at the same price of 700,000 VND/pot. This year's apricot blossoms are beautiful and bloom right on Tet," said Duy Quang.
Ms. Nguyen Huyen on Pasteur Street (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) also sells small pots of apricot blossoms for the table for the same price of 200,000 VND.
According to many traders, today is the 29th of Tet, but there are still many flowers. Although the traders have asked their acquaintances to support them and called on their relatives to come and buy flowers, there are still hundreds of pots waiting for Khanh to buy.
