Speaking at the seminar, journalist Nguyen Manh Hung, Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper, emphasized that the activity aimed to review the heroic memories, the extremely heroic and glorious historical period of Hanoi; through the authentic and vivid stories of historical witnesses, the seminar contributed to educating revolutionary traditions, fostering noble ideals for today's young generation to firmly build and develop the Capital.

Also according to journalist Nguyen Manh Hung, in the historic autumn 70 years ago, the people of Hanoi lived in a heroic atmosphere, welcoming the victorious army back and taking over the capital. On October 10, 1954, Hanoi was liberated, becoming a brilliant milestone in the glorious and proud history of the capital Hanoi and the whole country.

Today, after 70 years, in the autumn atmosphere of Hanoi, the members and young people listened to experts, culturalists, and historical witnesses recall the heroic memories of the old capital. The stories and images of an old Hanoi, of the resilient, indomitable, and extremely gallant generation of fathers and brothers will certainly leave us with many emotions; from there, we will be more proud, more in love with Hanoi, the sacred land, the soul of the thousand-year-old mountains and rivers.

Speakers shared at the seminar

Sharing at the program, Former Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department Pham Thanh Hoc affirmed: "October 10, 1954 was a special event for the Capital and the whole country, admired by the whole world. The event of the Liberation of the Capital left many lessons. First of all, the event of taking over the Capital was a whole process, representing the leading role of the Capital with the whole country. Second, it was the end point of the resistance war against the French colonialists of the whole country and people. To move towards the event of taking over the Capital, we went through a 9-year long resistance war. Facing an enemy with strong forces and modern weapons, our army had few forces and lacked equipment, our Party decided to strategically withdraw from the Capital to consolidate forces and wait for the opportunity with the spirit of "certain victory" and the belief that "one day we will return victoriously"".

"Personally, I think this is a great lesson from the long-term resistance war of the nation and country. With the spirit of aspiration to defend the country, the spirit of fighting the enemy: "When the enemy comes to our house, even women will fight", fighting the enemy on all fronts... has created a combined strength and a great, glorious victory admired by the world" - Mr. Pham Thanh Hoc shared.

Thereby, Former Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department Pham Thanh Hoc said that today's young generation must be proud to be a Hanoian, to live and contribute to the capital and the country.

"The thousands of years of history, especially in the 70 years of building and developing the Capital, need to be understood, remembered, proud of, preserved and promoted by today's young generation. Through the Covid-19 period, most recently the recent Typhoon Yagi, the image of young people and union members joining hands for the community has partly shown that we have absorbed the spirit of the "Three Ready" movement of the past. I believe that the young generation is and will continue to promote and contribute to building our Capital to be bright, green, beautiful, civilized and worth living" - Mr. Pham Thanh Hoc expressed.

Fully aware of the historical values and legacy left by our ancestors, the young people attending the discussion expressed their gratitude, respect for the past and vowed to devote their youth to the Capital.

Overview of the discussion

Promoting the glorious tradition of the nation, Nguyen Van Thanh - Outstanding Young Face of the Capital in 2023 shared about meaningful work for the community over the past years. Through this program, Nguyen Van Thanh hopes that union members and young people will try to contribute their small parts and spread those good values to the community, simply from the smallest things of themselves.

Nguyen An Huy, an 11th grade student at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi) shared: "As a young person, I vow to devote my efforts to bringing my youthful aspirations together with the common aspirations of the entire nation, contributing to building our country to be more decent and beautiful as beloved President Ho Chi Minh always wished."

With respect for the sacrifices and contributions that generations of predecessors have worked hard to create for Hanoi and the Fatherland as it is today, we can believe that the youth of the whole country in general, and Hanoi in particular, will remind themselves to study harder and strive to repay that merit with the most practical actions./.
