According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien, representative of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center, Vietnam's agricultural products have great potential for export to Guangdong province, China.
Speaking at the Guangdong - Vietnam Trade Promotion Conference on December 27, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien said that in addition to export products such as electronic equipment, agricultural products always hold an important position, especially products such as rice, coffee, tea, pepper, chili, dragon fruit and processed foods.
China is Vietnam's largest agricultural export market in 2023. In the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam's agricultural export turnover reached 11.5 billion USD, up 18% over the same period in 2022, accounting for 23.2% of Vietnam's total agricultural export turnover.
According to data from the General Administration of Customs of China, the import-export ratio between Vietnam and Guangdong has reached 47 billion USD, accounting for 20.1% of the total import-export turnover between the two countries. Of which, Vietnam exported about 22 billion USD and imported about 25 billion USD.
Based on the cooperation agreement between the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center and the Guangdong Import and Export Association, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien hopes that both sides will cooperate to organize programs connecting Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises, aiming to promote the export of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and aquatic products to China through Guangdong import enterprises. At the same time, they also plan to introduce agricultural materials, equipment, production lines, processing and packaging products from China to Vietnamese enterprises.
For his part, Mr. Le Minh Chanh, Deputy Director of Cong Thien Phat - a company specializing in producing essences extracted from vegetables and fruits, shared about the potential for exporting to the Chinese market. He emphasized that Vietnam has many agricultural products and products that can be processed, and if businesses invest in improving food quality and safety, the Chinese market will welcome them.
Mr. Chau Kelvin, Chief Representative of Guangdong Import and Export Association in Vietnam, provided information on cooperation with more than 1,000 member enterprises and efforts to expand trade promotion to many provinces and cities in Vietnam. Mr. Kelvin also talked about plans to organize exhibitions and trade promotion events in the future.
The Guangdong - Vietnam Trade Promotion Conference was organized by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center in coordination with the Guangdong Import and Export Association in Vietnam. This is an opportunity for businesses to share information about upcoming trade events such as the Vegetarian Food Fair in Hong Kong and the Guangzhou - China Import and Export Fair in October 2024./.
