At noon on February 13 (the 4th day of Tet), the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation organized the program "Happy Tet with workers in the boarding house" at the boarding house of Ms. Huynh Thi Gai (Ward 15, Tan Binh District) for 14 families of workers in difficult circumstances who could not return home for Tet. Attending were Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation and Mr. Phan Le Vu, Head of the Labor - Social Affairs Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee.

At the program, disadvantaged households were given 1 million VND (including a gift worth 300,000 VND and 700,000 VND in cash). On this occasion, families also enjoyed dishes reminiscent of Tet such as braised pork and eggs, bitter melon soup stuffed with meat, pickled onions, pickled vegetables, melon seeds, candy, etc.

Ms. Phan Thi Nhung (from Nghe An, a garment worker in Thu Duc City) said that it has been 4 years since her family returned home to celebrate Tet. "I live with my husband and 2 children in this boarding house, and when Tet is near, I feel sad when I see people packing up to go home. But staying here with support from Ms. Gai and the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation like this, I feel very happy, and feel warm because of the care from strangers," Ms. Nhung said.

Also attending the party, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung (44 years old, from Ha Nam) said that he works as a delivery man and his wife sells lottery tickets. "It's been 10 years since my family has been back to our hometown. My husband and I work hard and only earn 500,000 VND/day. We have to take care of our 3 young children so we put off going back to our hometown for Tet. Today, I feel warm to attend this lunch, the landlord took good care of everything so I'm very happy," Mr. Dung shared.

Wishing the families attending the party a happy new year, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy wished the workers and laborers a healthy, peaceful new year, favorable work, and the fulfillment of their plans in life.

On the same afternoon, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation also visited workers at a boarding house in Thu Duc City with 52 families being taken care of. Previously, on February 11 (the second day of Tet), the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation organized the program "Happy Tet with workers at the boarding house" for workers at a boarding house in Tan Phu District.
