The Swiss government has approved a draft of a new foreign policy strategy for 2024-2027, which clearly defines goals and priorities according to the new situation.
According to SwissInfo, the 52-page draft outlines a number of priorities in Switzerland's foreign policy, including strengthening cooperation with Europe and other close partners, promoting progress and combating climate change.
In the view of the Swiss Government, in a world marked by increasing economic and political fragmentation, ensuring a stable and prosperous Europe is of paramount importance. Switzerland will therefore focus on constructive relations with all regions of the world.
Climate change, biodiversity, pollution and sustainable energy supply are also given importance. The draft is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly's foreign affairs committees and boards for consultation before finalising and passing early next year.
