Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet was appointed by the President as Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
On the morning of June 3, at the Presidential Palace, President To Lam, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, presented the Decision to appoint the position of Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army to Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission.

President To Lam asked the new Director of the General Political Department Trinh Van Quyet and the Central Military Commission and the General Political Department to be proactive, sensitive, and grasp the situation in all aspects to advise the Party and State to lead the successful implementation of military and defense tasks according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress of the Army, building an all-people national defense, an all-people defense posture associated with an increasingly strong people's security posture. At the same time, build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern Vietnam People's Army, creating a solid foundation, striving to build a modern army by 2030. Mr. Trinh Van Quyet (58 years old), is from Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province; bachelor's degree. Mr. Quyet is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army since April 2021, Senior Lieutenant General (since August 2023). Mr. Trinh Van Quyet has worked for many years in Military Region 2, holding the positions of Deputy Political Commissar, Political Commissar of the Military Region, Secretary of the Military Region Party Committee (since May 2016). At the 13th National Congress of the Party (January 2021), he was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term. In April 2021, he was appointed as Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. He was promoted to the rank of Major General in 2016, Lieutenant General in 2020 and Senior Lieutenant General in August 2023. Previously, the Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army was Mr. Luong Cuong. Recently, Mr. Luong Cuong was assigned by the Politburo to be the Standing Member of the Secretariat. After Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet was appointed as Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, this agency currently has Deputy Directors of the General Department of Politics including: Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau and Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh.
