Recently, on a forum specializing in cars, an account shared the story of a driver who is a business partner of Mai Linh taxi company in Hanoi who has been owed hundreds of millions in revenue since the end of 2023. Meanwhile, in the past, Mai Linh paid its drivers quite regularly, paying 2-3 times a month.
This driver said that he himself has not been paid revenue from November 2023 to the end of May 2024.
This delay in payment forced this driver to borrow money to cover daily expenses and fuel to continue operating. Because he could no longer afford to continue being a cooperative partner, this driver had to withdraw his vehicle from the company.
This information immediately caused a stir when it was shared by many social network users.
VietNamNet reporters contacted the driver who shared the above story but this person did not respond.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Tran Xuan Trung, Deputy Director of Mai Linh North, confirmed that the TMC driver used to be the company’s driving partner. However, the information shared by this driver was incorrect.
“Immediately after the incident spread on social media, the company invited Mr. TMC to work. Mr. C. affirmed that the shared words were just gossip and jokes that took place at a coffee shop, with no intention of sharing them on social media. Mr. C. himself did not know that he was secretly filmed and posted on social media. After learning about the above information, Mr. C. proactively contacted the account owner who “posted” his story on social media to remove the video ,” said Mr. Trung.
Regarding the amount of hundreds of millions of VND that Mr. C. claimed Mai Linh owed for many months, Mr. Trung also confirmed that it was incorrect. Specifically, from October 26, 2023 to November 25, 2023, driver C. traveled a total of 8,472 km, of which 7,983 km was carried by passengers. The total revenue on the GPS system recorded the amount of 133,550,000 VND.
"This is an unusually large amount of revenue, with an amount of more than 133 million VND/month, no driver can afford it. Therefore, the company has conducted a re-inspection to have a basis to cross-check the entire route.
The company's control department compared payment transactions with the vehicle's GPS system and discovered that Mr. C. had made payment transactions that violated the company's regulations (wrong time, wrong route, even in one case, he drove the car home without moving it but still turned on the meter to record revenue.
Through inspection, the amount of fraud was up to 59,037,000 VND.
The owner of the car C. acknowledged all the incorrect figures, wrote a review and committed to checking with the customer with the company," Mr. Trung affirmed.
The representative of Mai Linh in the North also informed that currently Mai Linh taxi in Hanoi has about 500 business cooperation partners (drivers are vehicle owners, bringing their vehicles to Mai Linh to run taxis).
Regarding the payment of revenue to drivers, Mr. Trung said that due to the nature of Mai Linh taxi, which is to sign contracts with many customers who use cards (go first, pay later), debt collection also takes longer.
“Some customers have a 30-day payment period, some have a 60-day payment period, and even large partners that travel nationwide have a 90-day payment period. Therefore, the payment process for driver partners is also slower and longer,” said Mr. Trung, adding that drivers are usually paid within 45 days of issuing invoices.
Mr. Trung also explained that in the context of high inflation and global economic recession, late payment to business cooperation vehicle owners is inevitable.
" Currently, the company has been gradually paying revenue back to investors from December 2023, January 2024 and the following months , not stopping payment as some information posted on social networks," Mr. Trung affirmed.
Mai Linh Hanoi's leaders also said that the company is currently making daily efforts to apply science and technology, restructure the apparatus, to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
