At the meeting, representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ha Tinh and Bolikhamxay provinces reported on the implementation of the "Hanoi Agreement 2007" on facilitating people, vehicles and goods across the border at the two border gates.
Accordingly, in recent times, the authorities of both sides have regularly coordinated in the inspection and control of people, vehicles, and goods imported, exported, and transited through border gates. Customs clearance and immigration procedures have been carried out smoothly, shortening the time.
According to the report, from 2020 to July 2023, there were 889,013 people and 177,736 vehicles entering and exiting through Cau Treo International Border Gate.
From 2020 to present, the trade situation between Vietnam and Laos has had many positive changes. The demand for import and export of goods is increasingly diverse, the turnover of goods exchange at Cau Treo International Border Gate has increased compared to previous years. The main items transported between the two countries include: leather shoes, garments, some supplies, raw materials, equipment, electric wires, electric cables, machinery, wood and wood products (charcoal), ores, etc.

At the meeting, delegates also pointed out some difficulties in infrastructure and equipment conditions; some shortcomings in the regulations of the "Hanoi Agreement 2007" and made many recommendations and proposals to effectively implement the Agreement in the coming time.
The functional departments of the two provinces affirmed that in the coming time, they will continue to cooperate closely and support each other to effectively implement the "Hanoi Agreement 2007", creating the most favorable conditions for people, vehicles and goods to cross the border at the Cau Treo - Nam Phao international border gate pair to increase import and export turnover between the two sides, contributing to the socio-economic development of the two countries in general and the two provinces of Ha Tinh - Bolikhamxay in particular.
