In Dong Thap province, the implementation of Project 01 has been effective, not only bringing economic benefits but also contributing to promoting gender equality in many fields.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Vice President of the Dong Thap Provincial Women's Union, said that, implementing the direction of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Dong Thap Provincial Women's Union advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Plan No. 279/KH-UBND dated August 12, 2023 to implement the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030" (Project 01) in the province.
Up to now, the Plan has been disseminated to the provincial departments, branches and sectors and the People's Committees of districts and cities to develop plans to implement the Project in accordance with the conditions and characteristics of each locality. The People's Committees of districts and cities have assigned the Women's Union and specialized departments to preside over and coordinate with sectors at the same level to implement the Project.

+ Up to now, what specific results has the implementation of Project 01 in Dong Thap province achieved, madam?
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hoa: From the annual budget allocated by the Provincial People's Committee of Project 01, the Dong Thap Provincial Women's Union has focused on organizing workshops and training courses to improve the capacity of officials and members: 2 training courses to improve propaganda skills, mobilize and support members and women to participate in the development of collective economy and cooperatives for 200 branches, members of cooperative groups, cooperatives, enterprises, and women entrepreneurs; 2 training courses for 100 members, women, members of cooperative groups and cooperatives to apply measures to apply technology, digital transformation of production and business; 1 training course to improve knowledge, processes and procedures for registration of establishment, branding, and intellectual property for 50 members of cooperative groups and cooperatives; a workshop to promote the role of women in collective economic development with 150 delegates attending.
The activities implementing Project 01 have contributed to promoting the role of women in the family and society, especially women in rural areas.
Through the Project and implementation of the program signed between the Women's Union and the Provincial Cooperative Alliance on "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030", the two units coordinated to organize 2 training courses on propaganda and mobilization to establish new cooperatives for 100 members of women's clubs, associations and branches.
Through propaganda and mobilization work, female cadres and members have gained more understanding of the position and role of women in the development of collective economy and cooperatives as well as the significance and benefits of participating in the collective economy. Since the Project was implemented, the Women's Union at all levels has established 42 new cooperatives managed by women with 396 members; coordinated with local authorities to mobilize the establishment of 7 cooperatives managed by women with 1,271 members.
+ How has the implementation of Project 01 impacted the issue of promoting gender equality in the economy and employment of Dong Thap province?
The activities of Project 01 have contributed to promoting the role of women in the family and society, especially women in rural areas. Women have access to jobs and opportunities to participate in professions with stable income such as weaving water hyacinth, beading, sewing, etc. Since then, the economic life of women's families has improved, and women have more confidence to start and develop their businesses.
Regarding training and development: through training courses and capacity building, women have more opportunities to develop in various professions, from technical to management jobs, while reducing the gender gap in the workforce.

Regarding enhancing women's management role: being encouraged and facilitated to participate in leadership and management positions of cooperatives such as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director, Deputy Director, Board of Supervisors, etc., many women have improved their capacity, confidently assumed and affirmed their management roles in collective economic organizations. 23 cooperatives established with the support of the Association at all levels have 26 women participating in management, including 5 Chairmen of the Board of Directors, 6 Directors of Cooperatives; creating jobs for 715 female workers every year. This contributes to changing social awareness of the role of women, making them an important force in deciding and implementing socio-economic policies. Women's participation in economic and social activities has increased significantly, their presence in management positions also contributes to reducing prejudices about women's traditional roles.
This shows that the implementation of Project 01 not only brings economic benefits but also promotes gender equality in many fields.
+ Dong Thap is a province with strengths in agricultural economic development. How do you evaluate the significance of implementing Project 01 for members and women in the area?
For Dong Thap, the development of collective economy in the agricultural sector has always been of interest and focus to the provincial leaders. This is a favorable condition for the Provincial Women's Union to effectively implement Project 01, especially in strengthening the management role, creating jobs and increasing income for members and women in the province.
Many members and women have jobs with stable income.
Through the establishment of cooperatives and cooperatives managed by women and creating jobs, women not only have jobs, stable income, and improve their economic status, but also contribute to the sustainable development of the locality.
The project helps rural women improve their knowledge, management skills, access technology and markets, and boldly participate in social activities, thereby promoting gender equality in agriculture. At the same time, it creates more job opportunities to help women stabilize their economy and life, contributing to reducing labor migration and retaining female workers in the locality.
