Promoting the vanguard role of youth
Speaking at the festival, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong said that throughout the history of the nation, Vietnamese youth of all generations have always upheld patriotism, heroic spirit, burning aspirations, pioneering spirit, and creativity. In particular, Hanoi youth are honored and proud to join the youth of the whole country in creating heroic feats, contributing to adding to the glorious history of the Vietnamese revolution.
The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee affirmed that in every revolutionary period, the Hanoi Party Committee and Party committees and authorities at all levels have regularly paid attention, cared for, oriented, and created favorable conditions for the capital's youth to have a comprehensive development environment; and promoted young human resources in building and protecting the homeland and the country.
On behalf of the city's leaders, the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee welcomed the initiative to organize the Capital Youth Festival and the Congress of all commune-level Youth Unions for the 2024-2029 term; at the same time, commended the Union organizations at all levels for starting, inaugurating, and handing over 1 city-level project and 579 commune-level youth projects with a total value of nearly 25 billion VND.
Congratulating the 10 outstanding young faces of the Capital in 2023, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong emphasized that the achievements that the comrades have achieved are very proud and very valuable; have the effect of encouraging the young generation and youth union members; creating trust for the Party Committee and the City government in the new-era youth of the Capital.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to concretize the Resolution of the 17th Hanoi Party Congress, the City has paid attention to and invested in many cultural and sports institutions, and issued many good mechanisms and policies for the capital's youth. Faced with the difficulties and challenges of the period of active international economic integration, promoting industrialization and modernization, each member and youth must be imbued with the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, constantly cultivate, train, and promote more strongly the pioneering, proactive, creative role, with ambitions and aspirations for development. Quickly grasp opportunities, have the courage to overcome difficulties and challenges, organize many useful and practical movements and activities, arouse the desire for development, and build a "Cultured-Civilized-Modern" Capital.
The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee requested that all levels of the Capital Union focus on performing well the tasks assigned by the Central and the City. Accordingly, the Union must continue to build and strengthen the great solidarity bloc, widely gather all classes of youth, ensure high unity in ideology and action, strive to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; continue to do a good job of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and youth; do a good job of social security work...
In the new term, the Youth Union Committees at all levels need to direct the implementation of youth companionship programs to ensure substance, spread, and pervasiveness. Select effective models, methods, and tasks for the community and society to replicate in a profound and sustainable manner.
Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong said that in order to gather, unite and educate young people, the City Youth Union needs to focus on appropriate forms and measures to help young people experience and mature through revolutionary action movements. The Youth Union and Association should boldly volunteer, undertake and effectively implement difficult stages, new tasks, and appropriate work content.
"The Youth Union and Association create an environment and opportunities for young people to practice, improve and mature, especially in innovation, mastering science and technology, participating in the 4.0 industrial revolution; encourage young people to propose ideas, initiatives, solutions, and apply science and technology in performing tasks, participating in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security; pioneering in creative startups, digital transformation and international integration" - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong emphasized.
At the program, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi Nguyen Duc Tien pledged to the leaders of the city, the people and the youth of the capital to concretize policies and tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of the cause of building and developing a rich, civilized and modern capital.
Honoring 10 young faces of the capital
Within the framework of the program, the Hanoi Youth Union organized a ceremony to honor 10 outstanding young faces of the capital in 2023. This is a noble award from the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi City to union members, youths, and children with outstanding achievements in various fields, with a wide influence in the community, and actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the capital and the country. 2024 is the 15th year that the Hanoi Youth Union has organized the ceremony to honor and present this Award.
Immediately after the opening of the Capital Youth Festival, 578 communes, wards and towns simultaneously organized the Congress of delegates of the Vietnam Youth Union at the commune level, term 2024 - 2029. This event became an important milestone in youth work, in the process of building and developing the Hanoi Youth Union.
Before the program, the City Youth Union and Hanoi Electricity Corporation donated and handed over the project to repair, upgrade and equip the electrical system to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (born in 1942, in Hoan Kiem district), a former youth volunteer for economic construction in the period 1964 - 1967.
This project is one of the 70 city-level youth projects jointly implemented by the Vietnam Youth Union and Hanoi Electricity Corporation, worth nearly 3 billion VND. The project will be implemented from April to December 2024 in Hanoi, demonstrating the social responsibility of the youth and the capital's Electricity sector to show gratitude to the generations who have made many contributions and dedication to the cause of national liberation, construction and protection of the capital and the country towards the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Along with the awarding of city-level youth projects, the Capital Youth Festival also held groundbreaking, inauguration, plaque-attaching, and awarding ceremonies for youth projects and tasks in 579 communes, wards, and towns, including: 353 projects related to environmental protection, landscape creation, and environmental sanitation; 44 children's playgrounds/community activity areas; 44 charity houses, and 91 projects in the field of digital transformation. The value of each project and task ranges from 30 to 50 million VND/project.
Thus, on this occasion, a total of 580 youth projects were carried out. Of which, social resources were mobilized with a total cost of more than 23 billion VND. The practical and meaningful projects and tasks are associated with the celebration of the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday; the 60th anniversary of the "Three Ready" movement, and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
