On the morning of September 7, the 17th Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Fair - ITE HCMC 2023 opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).
Attending the ceremony were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, along with many leaders of departments, localities, businesses and delegates from 42 countries and territories.
The 17th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair opened on the morning of September 7 at SECC.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Mai said that Vietnam welcomed more than 87 million visitors in the first 8 months of 2023, reaching 70% compared to 2019, of which international visitors were 7.8 million, total tourism revenue reached more than 482,000 billion VND.
In Ho Chi Minh City alone, in the first 8 months of 2023, it welcomed nearly 25 million visitors, reaching 63% compared to 2019, including nearly 3 million international visitors, an increase of 105.2% over the same period in 2022, with tourism revenue reaching more than 100,000 billion VND.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee affirmed the important role of ITE HCMC in promoting the growth of the international tourist market to Vietnam, increasing the flow of tourists between countries.
A series of promotions are introduced at the fair
Mr. Phan Van Mai acknowledged that this year's ITE HCMC is meaningful when organized in the context of the tourism industry and localities of Vietnam are strongly implementing solutions to implement Resolution No. 82 of the Government on the main tasks and solutions to accelerate recovery, accelerate effective and sustainable tourism development, especially the new visa policy taking effect from August 15, 2023.
"For Ho Chi Minh City in particular, the 17th International Tourism Fair also opens up opportunities for motivational mechanisms and policies to develop the tourism industry," Mr. Phan Van Mai emphasized.
This year's Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair took place from September 7 to 9, attracting more than 400 exhibitors and brands including national and local tourism promotion agencies, tourism associations, tourism research institutes, companies, travel agents, accommodation establishments, airlines and transportation units...
ITE HCMC attracts more than 400 participating units
One of the important tasks of ITE HCMC is to expand the market share of international tourists to Vietnam and create a breakthrough in tourism promotion.
Visitors to the public consumption fair can receive attractive incentives from travel agencies, airlines, restaurants, hotels such as buying stimulus tours, cheap air tickets and lucky draw programs... The fair is expected to attract more than 25,000 visitors.
