Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong expressed his pleasure to receive the delegation of the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts led by Deputy Minister Ali Asghar Shalbafian Hosseinabadi.
Expressing his gratitude for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s reception of the delegation, Deputy Minister Ali Asghar Shalbafian Hosseinabadi affirmed that the cultural and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Iran is going very well in the spirit of mutual understanding and efforts for the common interests of the two countries. Many cultural exchange and tourism promotion activities have been and are being jointly organized by the two countries. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the friendship and promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
In addition, the Iranian Government has always focused on cultural cooperation through the development of many policies; at the same time, it considers this an important field, supporting Iran to expand cooperation with other countries in many fields.
Deputy Minister Ali Asghar Shalbafian Hosseinabadi said that Vietnam and Iran are two countries with many similarities in history and culture. This will be a favorable condition for both sides to increase the organization of cultural, artistic and tourism events, so that Vietnamese and Iranian people have more opportunities to learn about each other's rich cultures. Iran will create the best conditions for Vietnam to successfully organize cultural and tourism events in this country.
The Deputy Minister also informed that Iran is a country with a developed handicraft industry. The city of Isfahan in this country has been recognized by UNESCO as a traditional handicraft city. With its strengths, Iran wishes to expand cooperation in handicrafts with Vietnam, considering this as one of the industries serving the development of culture and tourism.
Regarding tourism, Deputy Minister Ali Asghar Shalbafian Hosseinabadi emphasized that Iran considers tourism one of the most important industries because in addition to economic benefits, it also helps promote the image, country, and people's culture to the world. The demand for travel of Iranian people is very large when in 2023, this country has about 12 million people traveling abroad.
Deputy Minister Ali Asghar Shalbafian Hosseinabadi learned that Vietnam attaches special importance to tourism development based on its strengths of many famous landscapes, landscapes, relics, beaches, etc. On that basis, the Iranian side said that Iran is willing to coordinate with Vietnam to organize events so that both sides have the opportunity to promote the tourism image of the two countries to the world; creating opportunities to build and develop tourism products between Vietnam and Iran.
The Deputy Minister also proposed that Vietnam should soon study and consider opening a direct flight route between the two countries to pave the way for the development of Vietnam-Iran tourism. In particular, Deputy Minister Ali Asghar Shalbafian Hosseinabadi hoped that Vietnam would consider exempting tourist visas for Iranian citizens.
Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong said that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Iran is a good one, especially in the fields of culture, sports and tourism.
Regarding culture, according to Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, the relationship between Vietnam and Iran in the cultural field is developing well. The Iranian Embassy in Vietnam annually coordinates with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vietnamese partners to organize a number of activities to introduce Iranian culture such as film screenings, heritage photo exhibitions, and culinary introductions. Iran has sent films to participate in and won high awards at the Hanoi International Film Festival.
The Deputy Minister hopes that Vietnam and Iran will increase information exchange, delegations will visit each other, and research and organize cultural and artistic exchange and promotion activities such as: exhibitions of paintings, photos, cinema, art performances, etc. to reach the public, enhancing understanding between the people of the two countries.
In 2023, within the framework of the visit to Iran by the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran and relevant agencies of Iran to successfully organize the Vietnam Cultural Week in Iran on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Iran with activities including the Outdoor Exhibition Space on Vietnamese Culture named "Colors of Vietnam" and the Vietnam Film Week in Iran. In January 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Embassy of Iran in Vietnam to organize the Iran Film Week in Hanoi.
Regarding tourism, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong said that in 2023, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued a Decision approving the Project "Strengthening international cooperation to build and develop Vietnam's Halal industry by 2030". The project is chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with relevant ministries, departments, sectors, localities and organizations, and has received great attention from the Government, ministries, sectors, localities and businesses. The project will contribute to promoting tourism, boosting trade and investment in Halal products and services, attracting tourists from the Middle East market in general and Iran in particular.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Vietnamese people love the culture and beautiful landscapes of Iran, the homeland of the Arabian Nights and home to 27 UNESCO-recognized world cultural heritages. However, promoting tourism cooperation between the two countries is still limited. The number of visitors between the two countries is mainly business travelers. The Deputy Minister hopes that the two ministries will have policies to promote tourism cooperation and promote the destinations of the two countries to the people of the two countries.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam will study and discuss with relevant agencies the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism and heritage cooperation between the two ministries in the near future. In the short term, encourage and facilitate tourism businesses of the two countries to build programs combining 01 tour to many Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, in an effort to take advantage of the abundant source of tourists to Southeast Asia.
Vietnam and Iran will increase exchanges and contacts between delegations at all levels through visits and work on tourism events; exchange information and organize activities to promote and advertise tourism images between the two sides; exchange delegations of reporters and press to visit each other to promote the tourism brands of each country.
The Deputy Minister also asked Iran to share its experience in policy making, marketing and tourism management; increase promotional activities in each country to attract tourists; and support Vietnam in building tourism products suitable for the Halal tourist market.
Regarding sports, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong said that Iran has a strong sports development in the following sports: Football, Wrestling, Basketball, Volleyball, Futsal... especially Martial Arts: Taekwondo, Karatedo, Kickboxing and Vovinam. The headquarters of the Asian Vovinam Federation is located in Iran, which is an advantage for Vietnam to strengthen cooperation and develop this sport in Iran in particular and Asia in general.
The Deputy Minister hopes that the two sides will continue to actively and proactively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on sports cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Iran.
At the same time, create favorable conditions for associations and federations to strengthen connections, exchanges, and seek cooperation opportunities for common interests. Propose that Iran support Vietnam in sports where the country has strengths in the work of experts, training, coaches and sports management staff.
Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong believes that through the visit and work of the delegation, it will contribute to promoting cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism between the two countries, and at the same time reap more practical and effective achievements./.
