During his official visit to China and attendance at the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, on October 29, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam and a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam visited the Academy of Military Science of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the 6th Combined Brigade of the 82nd Army Group.
The Academy of Military Science of the People's Liberation Army of China, an agency directly under the Central Military Commission of China, was established in 1958 with Marshal Ye Jianying as its first Director and Political Commissar. The Academy is the center for research and coordination of military scientific research work of the entire army.

Speaking to the institute's leadership, General Phan Van Giang hoped that the Chinese People's Liberation Army Military Science Academy would strengthen research cooperation with agencies and units of the Vietnam People's Army.
The Vietnamese Minister of National Defense also requested that the Chinese People's Liberation Army Military Science Institute and the Vietnamese Defense Strategy Institute actively coordinate to soon complete the joint research project "Collecting documents and relics on the solidarity and friendship between the two armies of Vietnam and China, the Ho Chi Minh - Mao Zedong solidarity ideology in the resistance wars against France and the US".
Visiting the 6th Combined Brigade, the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense listened to the brigade commander introduce the history and organizational structure of the unit. The 6th Combined Brigade was established in 1938 and was previously stationed in Ha Nam province.
The Brigade was then transferred to Beijing, where its main mission was to participate in the defense of the capital. The Brigade has also repeatedly carried out disaster prevention and relief missions and participated in peacekeeping operations.
On October 30, the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum will officially open with the participation of many leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the military, experts, and scholars from many countries and international organizations. Minister Phan Van Giang will deliver a speech at the plenary session with the theme "The role of developing countries in global security".
