On the morning of November 9, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thua Thien Hue province coordinated with the People's Committee of A Luoi district to organize the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Gender Equality (BĐG) and prevention and response to gender-based violence in 2023.

According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thua Thien Hue province, in recent years, Party committees at all levels, authorities, sectors and organizations in the province have always paid attention to implementing the Party and State's policies on gender equality and women's advancement. With continuous efforts over many years, Thua Thien Hue has achieved encouraging results, contributing to narrowing the gender gap in various fields and social life, making positive contributions to the socio -economic development process.

However, Thua Thien Hue province still faces many challenges in gender equality, the status, opportunities and rights of women compared to men. Women's participation in leadership and management in the public sector as well as in businesses, the rate of women experiencing violence, and gender stereotypes still exist in all areas of social and family life.

The 2023 Gender Equality Action Month will be held from November 15 to December 15. The launching ceremony will be the beginning of a series of activities at agencies, organizations, and localities with many meaningful and practical activities associated with the theme of the action month: "Ensuring social security, increasing power and creating opportunities for women and girls to implement gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence".

Launching the response to the Month of Action for Gender Equality, Mr. Dang Huu Phuc, Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thua Thien Hue province, said that the implementation of the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence aims to attract attention, promote the role, responsibility, and proactive participation of individuals, families, communities, agencies, and organizations in preventing and combating violence and abuse against women and children.

In order for gender equality and women's advancement to achieve practical results, the leaders of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thua Thien Hue province call on agencies, units, socio-political organizations, schools, People's Committees at all levels, communities and each family to actively respond to the Month of Action for Gender Equality in 2023. Thereby, strongly spreading the message of gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence to all classes of society, towards the goal of building a safe and equal community for everyone.

Leaders of agencies, departments, organizations at all levels and the whole society join hands to effectively prevent and respond to gender-based violence; increase empowerment and create opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence.

Promote communication on gender equality and prevention of violence against women and girls, and empowerment of women and girls in the media, press, and cyberspace.

In 2023, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thua Thien Hue province also launched an online contest to learn about the law on gender equality in communes and towns in ethnic minority areas. The contest took place for 4 weeks, starting from September 11, ending on October 9, 2023, and found the winning individuals and groups with quality communication products.

At the launching ceremony, the Organizing Committee of the contest awarded prizes to individuals who won prizes in each week; awarded prizes to individuals, groups and units participating in the video clip making contest on content and models related to propaganda on gender equality work and awarded certificates to groups and units that actively participated in the contest. At the same time, the Organizing Committee proposed to continue to expand and promote gender equality communication work in the context of digital technology.
